Think Dan Quayle in Cowboy Boots.
This is from a book by a man who was good friends with HW Bush. Interesting observations.

GOP insider: Bush is 'Dan Quayle in cowboy boots'
RAW STORY

Victor Gold, a friend of George H.W. Bush and the Cheney family, will release a book slamming the Bush administration entitled, "Invasion of the Party Snatchers: How the Holy-Rollers and the Neo-Cons Destroyed the GOP."

"For all the Rove-built facade of his being a 'strong' chief executive, George W. Bush has been, by comparison to even hapless Jimmy Carter, the weakest, most out of touch president in modern times," Gold writes. "Think Dan Quayle in cowboy boots."

In 2001, Gold wrote glowing biographies of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney for their first inauguration at the request of Lynn Cheney.

"A man of gravitas with a quick and easy wit," is how he described Cheney then.

In his soon to be released book, Gold refers to Cheney as a "a vice president out of control," who has a touch of paranoia and is a megalomaniac, reports the Washington Post

"In many ways, Gold's tale of disillusionment is a familiar one," continues the Post. "There are plenty of veterans of Reagan and Bush 41 around town who believe Bush and Cheney trashed the institutions and party they helped build from the wreckage of the Goldwater campaign. ... But there aren't many who have been on a first-name basis with those they believe are doing the trashing. There aren't many like Vic Gold."

4. Yeah, right!
"There are plenty of veterans of Reagan and Bush 41 around town who believe Bush and Cheney trashed the institutions and party they helped build from the wreckage of the Goldwater campaign.

Those veterans need to be reminded that the same bunch of criminals that were running the joint then are running the joint NOW!
Bush is what Reagan would have been if the Gipper had had a Republic Party rubber stamp congress.

5. You mean like these?

Only a fool or an idiot or both would wear something so hideous.
And his drugged out, vapid wife standing behind him looking on adoringly is equally as stupid.

This man is a genuine TOOL!
He's not qualified to manage a bowel movement!

15. No wonder
I never heard him say that but it makes a lot of sense. They're like two peas...or taters. One's a potatoe-head and the other is a dick-tater.

19. Did he really say that?!
I've often thought it was no coincidence that Bush Sr. picked a VP just like his son -- just as stupid, vapid and shallow -- with the same boyish frat-boy look no less!

12. Frankly, I am damn sick of all these conservatives writing books like this
no one "stole" the GOP, conservatism hasn't "lost its soul".

All too often, authors who say things like this are libertarian/conservative hacks.

And their books usually have one theme:

Conservatism and Republicanism, which were once pure and beautiful and good, have been corrupted or hijacked.

Compelling, but not even close to the truth. They pine for "old-school conservatives" now, but it was these same old-school cons who put BushCo in power and propped him up. They're just jumping ship now, and getting in a few shots at liberalism while they are at it.

One common thread among all the books: They compare Bush to liberalism, say he is too liberal and not conservative enough, and use what he has done as examples of how bad a Democratic government would be.

Its all bullshit.

Conservatism and Republicanism were never pure and good. Always soulless, selfish, evil and wrong. Always will be.

13. I'm sick of it too, they need to be reminded "conservativism is a loser"
Without the lipstick, no one would vote for that pig.

Apart from a smilie faced, brain dead, former actor who can sell the lie of ending communism (what-ever), conservativism only sells to old white rich men who would be happiest if they could turn the clock back a few centuries.

They got to dress it up as "compassionate" or "optimistic" or "secure" and "safe." If people knew it was about cutting social secuirty (they HATE it) and medical care for old people and the poor, and isolationist, they would only get 10% of the vote.

14. exactly. That's why the neo-cons invented "compassionate conservatism"
cause unless you dress it up with lies and empty promises, its just a steaming pile...

Reagan's handlers knew that, and dressed it up nicely.
