I understand the point you were making but what does it matter that it's being held in Houston? For any oil and gas summit to be held anywhere else is kind of silly.

8. Well, considering it's an Iraqi issue.

Considering the Iraqi's probably have more expertise in Iraqi oilfield operations than say a bunch of oil and security contractors in Houston maybe having it in Iraq would be a better idea. But let's face it, the issue really isn't "Iraqi oilfield operations" the issue is "Iraqi oilfield operations under U.S. control".

The image that comes into my mind is one of g.w. bush, Gen. Franks, schmoochy monarchs et al just a tabacky-chaw-spit and stone's throw from each other there in Texas after shoveling mountains of no-bid cronies past Abu Ghraib while in the other direction they've dragged their corpse to a BBQ where they'll chop it on the dotted line 'who shot JR?' style ;)
