Oh My: Alabama statehouse flooded out
State legislators cars flooded out.

http://www.selmatimesjournal.com/news/2009/may/07/flooding-forces-ala-legislature-out-statehouse/
<snip>
Flooding at the Alabama Statehouse on Thursday forced the Legislature to move to the old Capitol, marking the first time in 23 years the assembly would conduct regular business in the historic building.

The basement of the Statehouse was flooded with four feet of water, forcing staff to turn off the electricity in the building as a safety precaution. Without lights or working elevators, the House and Senate decided to recess and move to the Capitol, which sits on a hill across the street and wasn't affected.

The House and Senate were to reconvene at the Capitol around 1:30 p.m.

After Thursday, there are only two working days left in the 2009 regular session. If the House and Senate had to cancel Thursday's session, it would have killed bills that needed action to pass before the final day of May 15.

Work was disrupted Thursday morning when floodwaters turned the streets and parking lot at the Statehouse into a lake, submerging cars.

All you bible thumping Alabama morans, Justice for Don Siegelman or else.

1. I oppose federal aid
I have not forgotten Dick Shelby's obstructionism on the auto bailout.

Vote Dick Shelby out and I'll change my mind.

2. You need a category 10 hurricane limited to you to wash evil from your mind. The incident that
amuses you affected people from all groups.

:puke: on your hatred.

3. The original poster has personally experienced more hurricanes than you have ever read about
And is anything but a hater.

So actually your post is in very bad taste.

8. You don't know me nor how many hurricanes I've experienced. Your comment endorsing a post
laughing at an incident that affected all Alabamians including African Americans places you in a special category.

13. Is it hard walking around with that chip on your shoulder?
And why are you bringing all Alabamians including African Americans into the discussion.

I regret that any citizens are harmed by these floods. I could care less that some asshole politicians are inconvenienced by them.

It was a joke. Toughen up.

House have African American members.

We Dems control the 35 person Senate with 19 to 16 senators.

ON EDIT ADD: My senator is Senator Quinton T. Ross, Jr.

We Dems control the House with 61 members to 43 and Speaker Pro Tempore is Democrat Demetrius Newton:

We Alabama Dems are part of the big tent about which the National Democratic Party likes to brag.

15. And for that you deserve credit
But the OP lives in Jamaica. I doubt that she intended any slight toward African Americans.

16. I don't care where anyone lives but she/he should get their facts straight before maligning a group
of people like Alabama's legislature.

RE: "And for that you deserve credit".

No, the credit goes to many people from all across Alabama with diverse backgrounds, cultures, and ethnic groups who have made tremendous progress toward a future that MLK described so well, "I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers."

Maybe not this year, but that dream will come true.

10. Who mentioned James Dobson? You laugh at an incident that affects all representatives of all
Alabamians. I don't think that's funny, period.

17. I laughed at morans who claim that floods and disasters
are sent by gods and suggested that unless there is justice for Don Siegelman there will be more. I am an atheist - buy a sense of humor.

morans" without any limitation.

You can't change what you wrote but the moral thing to do is to apologize to those you offended in particular the Democrats who control both Alabama's Senate and House and were affected by the flood that you thought was so funny.

You don't know Don Siegelman but I do and I've worked in campaigns for many Democratic candidates and contributed to their efforts.

I don't expect an apology from you so have a good evening and goodbye.

ON EDIT ADD: Were you amused at the flood waters from Katrina that damaged New Orleans, LA?

7. Well, thank goodness it didn't affect an important building!
I mean, it might have interfered with truly important functions of meaningful groups if it had.
