Just listened to some of the 911 calls over that flight the AF1 did around New York with the fighter jets trailing

NOBODY will convince me that the Government did not realize how much that would scare everybody

listen to the clips here

people are REALLY scared

OBL wins - USA loses

http://www.entertonement.com/clips/bznrblzpsg--911-Calls-From-NYC-Plane-Photo-Op

and as the USA continues to slaughter people around the globe,

they guarantee contiNued hatred and their own demise.

DOH!

save the tape if you can

I suspect it may disappear of the internets

Truth seems to do that lately

2. Did anyone ever consider that this event
took place deliberately, just to make sure people were properly on edge, still scared, and still able to be herded, so to speak, like sheep.

I never thought it was an oversight or badly-done. How come the guy who ordered it hasn't been fired? How come nothing else has come out of the White House?

It was a test. Yes, we can keep doing horrible things in the name of "keeping America safe."

That's my theory. Maybe I'm nuts. Maybe I'm not ...........................

5. No my vote is for teh stoopid....
This was someone who was damned stoooopid who authorized this without thinking it through. Stoopid happens....

Remember the Duke University transplant team that transplanted the wrong lungs into the poor Mexican girl because they forgot to type her blood type against the donor lungs and she died when her body rejected them?

For that matter the original 9/11 was the result of stoopid happening: George W. Bush got (s)elected President followed by 8 months of "I don't give a shit I'm on vacation" when he had "bin Laden determined to strike in U.S." on his PDB's in August.

They had an end of quarter fuel allowance to use (and you use it or lose it) so they thought this would be fun and make a great shot.

51. I don't buy it
They thought enough to warn authorities about it, but specifically told them not to tell the public. WTF? Why would they do that if it was just an "oversight?"

They had to think about it for at least five seconds to say don't warn people. If any normal person thought about it only three seconds they would know people were going to be concerned to see a huge plane flying at rooftop level in Manhattan.

No -- I don't buy the "oversight" excuse.

61. You assume intelligence when it's not always in evidence.
Senior people do fuck up, and act stupidly. Odds are good the OIC in charge of AF1 is a Bush holdover, and probably, against DOD regulations (but who gives a shit, it happens) was vetted by someone as high as Rove simply because he was a very loyal Republican. His wife probably donated the max to Bush.

I do buy the excuse that it was an idiotic decision by a moron, because I've seen idiotic "What could possibly go wrong?" decisions made. This one had bigger consequences than most, but there ya go.

I don't buy the "oops, we didn't think it would upset anyone"

BULLSHIT

It did exactly what it was intended to do

Put terror in the hearts of its own citizens so it can steal their taxes to make more wars across the globe

Nothing has changed since the slaughter of the natives

President Obama has VERY small window to convince the World that the USA is gonna change for the better

WE DON'T SEE IT YET!

We are waiting

and hoping.

China and Russia are grouping . . . .

15. REALLY?? - are you suggesting that the "superpower" is crippled because of stupid finance deals??
.
.
.

I think China knew this 50 years ago

watching the USA flex its might in useless wars, spending trillions of dollars and losing their young and healthy.

China stayed home - did NOTHING globally - stayed home and minded their own business

USA can't even take weenie defenseless countries like Iraq and Afghanistan

I'm sure the Chinese and Russian governments get a good chuckle out of that

THEY ain't scared of the USA - I can just hear it

"see them getting beat in Iraq and Afghanistan"

"what ME, worry"? comes to mind

USA is just a big blundering bully - got a few years chance under Barack Obama to pull themselves straight

Not prosecuting the previous administration will be the downfall of the USA

USA has had a bad rep for decades - they gotta do a real turnaround, get their people OUT of other countries, come home and take care of their own.

I suspect that that will not happen, USA will carry on like every other Empire,

and kill itself

COULD have been a great nation - but now

just a pariah on the World

(sigh)

62. It didn't work, though. It had the opposite effect. People are ANGRY.
There's no lasting fear--people are not afraid, they are pissed off. And the drama wasn't felt across the land, either--it was just in NYC that the story grew legs and people were briefly consumed by it.

Next time they see a plane, they'll say "Is that those assholes from Andrews AFB, trying to scare us again?"

69. Well, the Canadians aren't doing so well, either. You have that Harper clown.
He's no day at the beach. He helped enable the Evil Bush, after all. Should we say that the Canadians "let" an enabler who contributed to the mess the world is in run their country, too?

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. I don't think characterizing the people for the missteps of leadership is terribly helpful. That's like saying Iranians are evil because Ahmadinejad is an asshole. They're not, in case anyone's unclear about that.

The US didn't "let" Bush run the country--he, with good legal representation, gamed the Supreme Court into handing him the reins in 2000, and he cheated the second time round.

Big picture--we're still a "rule of law" kind of place, even when excesses happen. The next eight years will involve a lot of course correction resulting from the missteps of the last eight years.

21. I completely agree that there's something very strange about the whole
thing but I guess I want to believe that Obama's not interested in keeping us scared. If we're scared we continue to make knee jerk, bad choices, the economy continues to struggle, people get as frustrated with the dems as they are currently with the pukes. It seems counterproductive to his agenda. I don't think I'm being naive but I don't want to believe our guys are as bad as theirs. Do you??

27. You want to hear my whole theory?
It's not that complicated, and it involves the end of the US as we've known it.

The powers-that-be made it possible for Obama to win because they know they've drained the country of all that is valuable, and so it was easy to put up someone like McCain, and leave him out to try. Then, it was best to let the black guy win, because it would distract everyone from how bad things are.

While the black President is doing all he can, with the advice of the white guys selected by the powers-that-be, to handle the mess left by Chimpy, the situation continues to deteriorate because - it's so simple - we don't manufacture anything. We have nothing to sell, so we have no income.

So, now China pulls a halt on our lending. This won't affect anything immediately, but, ultimately, it's our death sentence. So, that flyover was just a check, just to make sure the powers-that-be can still control the people.

I've never been any fan of any conspiracy theories about anything, but I came up with this one all by myself, and I honestly can't see how I'm wrong ...................

34. Its definitely got some merit and its interesting. I've thought a lot
about China doing just that . . .

I do think that the "powers that be" only let happen what they want to happen but probably not in quite such strict terms. I think they'll allow Obama to calm everyone's fears for a while and then do their darnedest to start robbing us blind again . . . and I think they're still robbing us now, but I also think that they're allowing Obama to reign things in for a while. They've made a financial killing for the last eight years but even they have to know that its not sustainable after a certain point. A bit of correction in the end probably allows them to make more money in the long run. Hate to be so cynical but what are we left with at this point?

41. ya know, I agree with your theory
It's the New World Order, baby. My cousin who happens to be a historian, told me about three years ago, that the environment then felt like the environment in the Soviet Union. He had visited Russia before the dismantling of the Soviet Union. In the past eight years, the powers that be, have drained this country, like bloody sociopathic leeches. I've always said, you can't have your greedy corporate vision of a New World Order without throwing out democratic principles. It will be corporate rule over the will of the people--it's happening now.

When the Soviet Union was dismantled (and no, I'm not cheering for Communism), people, especially the elderly people lost their social safety net--people were being thrown out of their apartments--people were selling family heirlooms just to eat--corruption increased--I mean the Russian mafia makes the Italian version look like boy scouts. And the corporations swept in like locust.

I have asked before is our economic dilemma deliberate or just incompetence?

many battles to get where he is. No one made it possible but Obama.

The 'powers that be', i.e., the republicans, had NO ONE to run. McSame was 'it', then made a very bad choice in Palin.

56. I read it much as you do but more specifically as a message.
I read it as a direct warning to Obama. Sort of, "This is what we can do in broad day light, cover it up with a story that is plausible but barely, and get away with it -- and you'll play along if you know what is good for you." Like a calling card with a logo on it, the association with 9/11 was intentional, an underscore, "This is who we are."

By the way, so far as we know, COG (continuity of government) protocols are still in effect, as they have been since 9/11. No one seems to know what that means, exactly. Hopefully, I'm a paranoid fruit cake. Unfortunately, I've lived too long to believe that's the case.

64. China needs to stop pumping up their currency. That's part of the issue.
They've got a rising unemployment problem, too. And they need the money they've been using to buy our debt to keep their own suffering economy afloat. That's what they're dealing with--they aren't looking to screw us, they're looking to save their own asses. They've got too many people who won't go back to the Mao days--they have a population with "expectations" and they've gotta jump through hoops to meet them.

50. Thank you for that link. I had never heard of it.
I came fairly late to Dylan. I heard his songs through other artists. Once I made peace with his varying vocal deliveries, I didn't just like him but became a zealot.

Nowadays if anyone speaks ill of Bob Dylan I firebomb their homes. Great principles demand bold action. Poetry is involved!

What good is anyone's life, frankly, if they haven't heard Dylan sing --

It was in another lifetime / one of toil and blood
When darkness was a virtue / and the streets were filled with mud
I came in from the wilderness / a creature void of form
'Come in,' she said, 'I'll give ya / shelter from the storm.'

The man doesn't owe me another note after a composition like that.

19. Honey,
Paul Anka is not Italian. He's not even a natural-born American.

His heritage is Lebanese.

I guess that dark skin and hair make everyone Italian, eh?

Stereotype much?

36. I'll see your Paul Anka and raise you a Neil Sedaka. BTW, is he really supposed to be straight?
I read somewhere that Neil Sedaka is straight. The way he was drooling over that red headed thing on American Idol, I could have sworn he was gonna move in for the kill.

12. You know what is weird... every time they have zeros flying
over Oahu for Tora Tora Tora, the love story, recreations, does not matter, DOD goes on it for WEEKS.

Survivors do develop a nice case of PTSD. The Air Force forgot the Navy does that, even this after Pearl Harbor.

It is not that people are scared. It is PTSD, pure and simple.

24. I'd go for rational response over "scared"
Edited on Tue May-05-09 12:10 AM by Snazzy
Commercial planes fly at 8000+ ft over Manhattan.

We see one flying lower (1500 ft? something like that) headed toward buildings and off normal flight paths, we duck.

Ain't no scared about it. Well speaking for me anyway. (Hmm reminds me of the bs about swine flu. I'm not fucking panicked, still or ever. And should my hair catch on fire, I'm going to put it out, not run around like a ninny. Drop and roll, and pass me that gel stuff, thanks).

And on this particular one, I go with very stupid, the needs to be fired kind of stupid, and we need to follow up on that.

(edit: clarity and rant completion)

40. Little Tuesday Morning Flamebait, eh?
Of course people were scared. I have no idea how you don't see that as a perfectly normal reaction considering the circumstances. It has little to do with OBL and a lot to do with not wanting to be incenerated in a fireball of jet fuel flame.

43. WOW - I didn't realize how ignorant UKCanadians were!
.
.
.

Settling up in a cold environment...

Probably because they realize global warming will make it liveable soon

In fact, they contribute a ton to global warming...

Hoping that the North Pole will unfreeze

Then, Canada will have all the oil it could wish for

And be able to dictate terms to other nations

They're getting ready to invade Alaska

Yep, the Canucks are some evil muthas

Their Queen wishes it to be so.

If you don't hear from me soon...

Search for me in the Yukon

I'll be the one in the Canadian gulag

KHAAAAAAAAAAANNN...adian.

46. i still find it hard to believe they would burn up that fuel for a photo-op
and scare the city in the process, since they NYPD/Bloomberg didn't bother to tell the public...

if all they wanted was a promotional photo with a NY background, why not just create a CGI one? it would have been cheaper and most people would not know or care about the difference

52. A. They don't care about burning up fuel, but B. You're right
why not just do it with computer graphics. You could do a better job -- with zero risk to anyone.

Where was anybody panicing in those audio tapes, or is my sarcasm meter broken?

"they guarantee contiNued hatred and their own demise."

There's a guy on HuffPo who sounds just like that, but he's actually serious.

Even if mrbush hadn't invaded Iraq, having low flying jets over NY would still be traumatic

67. if people had been told about the photo op, then they would have been out
WATCHING instead of peeing their pants. stupid way to deal with it if you ask me. people are really scared, because there are things in this world we cannot control. and there is a collective PTSD going on. and people are willing to forego their normal common decency to protect themselves. the problem with this is, that it allows people like bush et all to use that fear. that is how the republicans have gotten so much of their ideas through.... scare the crap out of people. OMG!! the gays! they may becatching! OMG!! abortion!! if we don't outlaw a woman's rights men may not be able to control them anymore!! fear makes people do crazy things.
