Why is Domino's advertising on DU? First Marco Rubio and now Domino's? WTF?
And why doesn't the "latest" page load other than the Domino's ad?

25. N.ot T.his S.hit A.gain; DU gets ads through Google and has little say over what shows up beforehand
If there's a particularly egregious ad that appears, they can ask Google to block that ad from showing here again. Don't feel bad, this has been explained many times over the years and will be explained many more times.

2. If you want advertising revenue, you take what they give you
The administrators can't pick and choose which ads show up.

8. Thanks. I was just wondering. Any idea why the "latest" page doesn't load?
It's not like Domino's is evil incarnate, though their pizza is as exciting as Berber carpet- I just thought that there was a target marketing god somewhere who decided this sort of thing.

11. Is it still not loading? If so, what browser are you using? As for target markets
I guess they figure a bunch of people sitting around inside playing on their computers might be a good bet for ordering delivery food online. In fact, I'm thinking of it now, and I didn't even see the advertising. It's all because you mentioned it. :)

13. Hanaford rising crust is the best value out there. The good frozen pizzas beat the chains.

And no, when click on "latest" all I get is the center add and the toolbars. Sometimes, latest loads for a few rounds, and then stops again.

The latest version of Safari.

16. Don't know Safari, but when I have that type of problem, there's usually
something trying to load that the browser can't handle. You say latest version--has DU worked with this version before? A quick test would be to load DU with another browser, just to be sure it isn't your computer or network connection. Clearing history and cookies is another good move. After that, I don't know.

I just updated to IE 8, and it wasn't loading another site I go to. It eventually fixed itself. The problem seemed to be in loading a movie player the site used to run ads. So maybe it's something like that, and maybe it will straighten itself out.

Or, last thought, it could be that since you are seeing the ads, and I'm not, there is something wrong with the ads. I've had that happen on other sites. Maybe someone else without a star can answer whether it's happening for anyone else. No help, I know, but that's all I got.

In case you were wondering, btw, IE 8 is driving me crazy, and I'm about to switch back to Firefox, or start playing with other browsers again. :grr:

And there are a lot of people who dislike Domino's because their CEO is Catholic Fundamental freak.

17. Most of their stores are independently owned.
Monaghan, the former CEO, was the CFF--Catholic Fundamentalist freak. He doesn't run anything anymore. The current CEO is a Repubican nutcase, but I'm not sure his religious views.

Either way, if you order from Dominos and don't live around Ipsilani, Michigan, you're almost certain to be buying from an independent owner, usually local.

31. They still send money off to Domino's HQ
Usually , the way it works is that they're contractually obligated to buy certain products and promotional materials from the company. AND they have to pay licensing fees.

So it's not like it's a totally independent business.

14. Of the main chains that deliver, they are at least equal.
I like them better than Pizza Hut or Gattis, and about the same as Papa Johns. If you've got a good local chain nearby, the local chain may be better. Not always, though.

It's all about targets. If they make a very tasty product, just the fact that it has a unique taste will turn some people off to it. By making a slightly more bland product, they make it more universal, thus more people will order it. It might not thrill everyone, but it won't really upset anyone, either.

My opinion, anyway.:)

15. All these people pulled salt and oil out of their product
Perhaps other spices. Like you said, they made it appeal to a broader segment. So every time I break down and get pizza, I am disappointed because it doesn't resemble the greasy spicy pizza of my youth at places called "Tony's".

The fact that the advertisers see DU as a target audience for RW, conservative and/or liberal haters tells a lot about who looks at DU.

All this hysteria is fucking nuts. Every person has the right to endorse any candidate of their choice. You have the right to not buy their product (whatever that accomplishes), but save your venom. This is ridiculous.
