Correct me if I am wrong (I know you all will) BUT, wasn't the GOP mantra
deregulation of big business so that "competition" would take care of the marketplace? Now, the mantra is that the GOP is for small business. Senator Kay Bailey Hucksterson of Texas said this yesterday, and I have heard it more and more in soundbites by the Reich wingers. When did they make such a seismic switch in policy? And who in their right mind is going to believe this line of bullshit?

2. The thing is, their dereg has allowed some businesses to get...
too big which crushes the (smaller) competition. Plus it hurts consumers many of whom are *shock* small businesses.

During the Presidential campaign, I tried to find a definition of "small business" in a legal sense. My husband is a business owner and makes far less than $250K, but we're still probably upper middle class so I wanted to prove that "small" doesn't mean they're not wealthy and able to afford Obama letting Bush's tax cuts expire. Never could truly define "small business". It's typical of the GOP to use a catch phrase like that to try to make it seem as though they're defending the average joe but they can't back it up.

17. Yeah, but small business need not apply. I don't want to speak for the OP, but

it's important to acknowledge the hypocrisy of this point of view.

6. The GOP is for whatever puts the most money in their pockets today.
You should have heard me laugh the first time I heard a GOPer on the TeeVee yammering on about "energy independence". Ok first I laughed and then I got mad. Because as soon as one of those predators gets their hands on solar or wind they'll suck the life out of it.

8. T. Boone Pickens, for example.
He's in it solely for the money, of course, but he manages to fool a lot of people by hiding behind the "energy independence" banner.

7. they want to feed the small businesses to the mega-corporations
Sure, they are *for* small business, but only as a snack for their contributors. Gotta keep feeding the beasts to keep that cash flowing.

That is so true that it is uncontroversial, and your point merits kicks and recommendations, to say the least.

This is yet another primary, central hypocrisy of the right.

Thank you for making it so clear that anyone can get this.

It's true.
