National Review: Souter's Replacement Will Be Conservatives' Worst Nightmare
We don’t even know who Barack Obama’s nominee would be yet, but already Ed Whelan over at National Review is certain that this unknown person will provide the deciding vote for:

“— the imposition of a federal constitutional right to same-sex marriage;

— stripping “under God” out of the Pledge of Allegiance and completely secularizing the public square;

— the continued abolition of the death penalty on the installment plan;

— selectively importing into the Court’s interpretation of the American Constitution the favored policies of Europe’s leftist elites;

— further judicial micromanagement of the government’s war powers; and

— the invention of a constitutional right to human cloning.”

He forgot confiscation of guns, abolition of talk radio, the invention of a constitutional right to take rich people’s money and, oh yeah, forced “volunteer service.”

3. I thought you were going to say corporations don't have personhood status.
You aren't talking liberal until you get to the crux of our current problems.
No more lobbying, no more corporations getting rights like people.

8. To the Victor Belongs the Spoils
It was implicit in the asskicking of the 2008 election.

Obama won. They lost. SCOTUS leans left for another generation.

Game. Set. Match.

18. I certainly wish, but NR is hysterical.
This SC nominee will replace a liberal, and there will continue to be at most four liberals on the SC, along with three rabid fascists (Alito, Scalia, Thomas), a mild-mannered fascist (Roberts), and a mainstream conservative (Kennedy).

19. Not To Mention That The Right-Wing Justices Are Neither Immortal Not Invulnerable
The right wingie-dingies have other things to worry about concerning the make-up of the Supreme Court. While Reagan and both Bushes tried to pick younger, healthier right-wing justices, there is nothing guaranteeing that they'll prove immune to accidents or the other hazards of life we all face. (I do NOT advocate violence or mob action, I'm just saying that life is uncertain for all of us--except that almost all of us will leave it feet-first). While it looks likely that Justices Alito, Scalia, Roberts, and Thomas will stay spry and healthy all the way to Inauguration Day 2017, who knows what the fates have in store for them?

Step on a crack, break Justice Scalia's back.

:evilgrin:
