Last night I was driving home from a late night in the office and the only AM station that I could pick up was some local affiliate running local "trash the liberals" programming. The commentator was named Herman Cain and he bashed Democrats with each exhalation. He talked about conservative principles and lauded Republicans for embracing conservative values.
It was at that point that I "got it". I understood the essential disconnect in these cognitively-challenged imbeciles. Conservatism is an ideology, an idea, a concept, a set of principles. Republican is the actor, the do-er, the implementing arm of that ideology.
But it's not.
The best way to destroy the logic of the conservative pundit is to divorce the concepts of conservatism and Republicanism. The do-er ain't doing what the talkers are talking about.
