Readying between the lines on news stories
Edited on Fri May-01-09 01:10 AM by nadinbrzezinski
ok local news bunny said something interesting...

The state of california will no longer send samples to CDC for testing, hence results will be faster

Translation: YOUR TAXES at work... aren't you happy? (I am)

We are getting a L-3 bio safety lab, useful to have in ANY situation like this or for problems in the AG industry, (Yes some of those are also tested at CDC)

WOOT

I guess authorities world wide realized that five labs world wide were not enough... with the fire drill

So far we are up to seven... (yes mexico got its own lab)

And I will not be too shocked to see a few more popping up here and there

Necessary disclaimer: I am sorry if this scares you, and sorry you need to belittle the information on this post

1. Yay! They recognize the need for actual science!
:woohoo:

It would be nice if our own CDC hadn't become a political shop, and wasn't handcuffed so often.

It's great news that there will be more testing labs. Let's hope we see more labs getting set up for testing imported and domestic food and and consumer products too. That would be nice.

The republicans created this sense that we're all invulnerable to anything, unless a corporation can profit from selling us fear of it. So government has been getting out of the business of caring and checking and testing as much as the republicans could scream and make it happen. :(

I really hope this is a first step in reversing that. It's a shame it is taking an international flu outbreak to scare them into doing it.

3. It is not just us
I also suspect we will see tighter food regulations and industrial farm regs when all is said and done

I know I will have to call congress critter tomorrow

:-)

Now the safety bio lab, I hate to say it, but thank Bush.... stuck clock twice a day syndrome.. this is coming straight out of the agreements for avian flu he pushed in 2005 on political grounds...

I am almost willing to bet... and perhaps WHO is pushing this on member states... them pesky agreements

Now if Bush was still president I fear he'd pull out of the UN before getting any more sciency CDC type labs... EEEK

2. Now the next question is
will the WHO recognize local positive results. They don't for a lot of countries thus their perennial lowball count.
