Local GOP cancel speech by Utah governor-- too moderate
Joanne Voorhees, the chairwoman of the Kent County Republican party in Michigan, has "abruptly canceled" an upcoming fundraiser with Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, Jr. (R). Voorhees "said that hosting the moderate Utah governor would mean abandoning the party's conservative principles." <...> Huntsman sharply criticizes the national GOP leadership, giving them an "incomplete" grade on their first 100 days as an opposition party to President Obama. "Instead of just kind of grousing and complaining, it would do us all a whole lot of good if we actually started engaging directly in finding compromises and common ground and shared solutions," said Hunstman."

5. By eating their own like this they will soon
be gone. We need a two party system, but what we have now is not working.

Gov. Jon Huntsman is a true Republican. Good on him for coming out with his views. The conservatives have a strangle hold on this state and they are beside themselves with the Guv's views. I makes me smile.

6. I think I figured it out. The 21% of voters remaining repubs are also fundies.
The can't distinguish their politics from their religion. They have their fundie ideology that they can't compromise on and they have their wing nut ideology that they can't compromise on. They have mixed the two together and believe they are not being true to fundy-ism if they are not true to what they consider conservatism.

8. The wingnuts have created
a black hole of hate for the Republican Party. If somebody doesn't stand up and speak truth to crazy, they are going to be long gone as a viable unit.
Losing Specter seems to have unhinged them more. I didn't think that was possible.

12. I knew Inhofe has been way off his meds.
However, this article about Huntsman shows the entire apparatus from top to bottom is going.

13. I actually like Jon Huntsman. I've read about how he's tried to protect what little
they have for programs in Utah against a pretty right-wing legislature.

14. Oh man, this is just awesome.
They're purging their ranks of all but the purest wingnuts. This decline is going to advance at an exponential rate as the extremists go more and more unopposed.
