Reality Check: All R Presidents Have Sucked Since Ike Left Office
Edited on Sat Apr-25-09 11:08 PM by stopbush
Who did we get? In order: Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush Sr & Jr. What a fucking embarrassment! Nixon, Reagan and Jr were fucking criminals. Ford was ineffective and Bush Sr was at least a partial criminal (pardoned Cappy and a few others). I can't believe I'm saying this, but Nixon was the only decent R president we've had since Ike...and he was a criminal!

Compare them to the Ds we've had: FDR, Truman, Kennedy, LBJ, Carter, Clinton and Obama.

Who ya gonna call when ya need a good prez? The Dems, that's who!

3. And every last one of those Repuke presidents was a tool of the Bush Crime Family
Even Eisenhower was one of theirs. But he rejected much of their agenda. Which is why he didn't go out of his way to endorse old Tricky Dick (his own VP) in 1960. Nixon himself owes his entire political career to Prescott Bush.

4. Top Tax Rate Under Eisenhower Was 91%
And he - and both Republican-led houses of Congress - wanted it that way. And somehow, the middle class prospered.

How far, far, far to the right our country has gone!

5. Nixon gave us Voting Rights, the EPA, China, and almost...
got us universal health care. And he was the biggest scumbag of them all.

What does that say about the rest of those insignificant little shits?

6. Which one...
...gave us NAFTA, the WTO, repealed a great piece of Democratic legislature in the Glass-Steagall Act and paved the way for massive media consolidation?

7. Ike and Nixon both sucked, those who think otherwise completely ignore foreign policy
How well the Middle Class in America did under an administration is a narrow measure that many on DU seem to like to use to determine how "liberal" a President was. If you look beyond this narrow scope you realize that Ike's actions ultimately resulted in thousands of deaths in Guatemala and an oppressive dictator followed by an Islamic theocracy in Iran. In Nixon's case you have thousands of deaths in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Chile.

Domestic policy is something that while Presidents do have a lot of say over, is also controlled largely by congress and public opinion. Foreign policy is something that a President has almost unilateral control over. Both Ike and Nixon both unilaterally used the military and the CIA to de-stabilize other nations. The only difference between them and Bush is that they were successful and Bush's attempt at overthrowing a government and replacing it turned into a complete clusterfuck.
