Nutjobs on Parade. Does the Plain Dealer have fact-checkers?
Or is fact-checking only reserved for when Democrats make statements?

I cannot believe the PD published this letter. Or maybe I CAN; I would just figure they'd have the decency to fact-check their fairy tales before printing them as serious letters.

What, exactly, do letter writers James Sickora and William Hickey (Monday) not get about citizens joining together in a common cause? The "tea parties" were not about the recent tax cuts. They were about what the federal government can or will initiate in the future - next week, next month, next year.

President Barack Obama has initiated more spending in the last three months than George W Bush did in eight years. It is unconscionable for our government to saddle the taxpayers with such an outrageous amount of debt.

Hooooooooooo KAY, Mental Maureen. So if I got this right, you're mad at what you THINK Barack Obama is going to do, and you're apparently prone to making blatantly ficticious statements. I see.

Specific examples, please, on how Barack Obama "has initiated more spending in the last three months than George W Bush did in eight years". Specific examples, ma'am. Unless you can come up with how Barack Obama has already blown more than six trillion dollars in three months, you're talking bull paddies, lady, and you're not getting away with it.

2. A) That's from wingnut think tank Heritage.
B) That still isn't more than George W Bush has blown on useless oil wars and tax cuts for the wealthy in eight years.

C) That's under the premise of stabilizing the economy rather than crippling it to make money for cronies. There IS NO COMPARISON.

3. The GOP seems to have been taken over by admen
some time ago, men who are arrogant enough to think if they can convince Middle America of the superiority of one nearly identical brand of soap over another, they can certainly create an alternate political reality.

It's why the facts always seem to have such a strong liberal bias: the GOP just isn't concerned with facts and hasn't been for a very long time.

They don't bother to fact check conservative swill because conservative swill contains no facts. This applies most strongly to letters to the editor and editorial columns.

And they wonder why newspapers are dying.

4. Do they ordinarily fact-check letters to the editor?
I don't think most newspapers do.
