Police probe possible poisoning of polo horses. Could it be another form of terrorism?
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/30302408/

The horses from a Venezuelan-owned team began collapsing Sunday as they were unloaded from trailers at the International Polo Club Palm Beach, with some dying at the scene and others hours later at stables or clinics. State investigators believe the horses died from an adverse drug reaction, toxins in their food or supplements, or a combination of the two.

While state veterinarians run tests to determine what caused the deaths, law enforcement officers are looking into whether criminal negligence, or perhaps something more sinister, could have been involved, said a spokesman for the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

He said games would resume on Wednesday, with the finals taking place Sunday. The Lechuza team has withdrawn.

Could someone so hate Venezuela that they would deliberately poison horses?

2. Talk now is that something was wrong with the feed. Numerous rumors

abound. There was a picture for a brief time on the Palm Beach Post online of these beautiful horses lying on the ground, some not dead yet. Vets running around like crazy, the tarp not covering them all. Very, very sad. You can imagine the beauty of these animals, I am sick for the owner The polo grounds are in Wellington, not Palm Beach proper.

3. I can easily imagine a hate-filled RWer so deluded that he thinks killing
Venezuelan polo ponies is an appropriate way to attack Hugo Chavez and the Venezuelan people (who were evil enough to elect him).

4. I don't see it so much as hating Venezuela as possibly having a grudge against the owner

5. I highly doubt it.
I expect we will find that they were all injected with something that was intended to be beneficial (performance enhancing, maybe vitamins) which turned out to be contaminated. Even poisoned feed probably wouldn't cause so many horses to collapse and die in such a short time.
