The Pulitzer-winning investigation that dare not be uttered on TV
(updated below - Update II)

The New York Times' David Barstow won a richly deserved Pulitzer Prize yesterday for two articles that, despite being featured as major news stories on the front page of The Paper of Record, were completely suppressed by virtually every network and cable news show, which to this day have never informed their viewers about what Bartow uncovered. Here is how the Pulitzer Committee described Barstow's exposés:

Awarded to David Barstow of The New York Times for his tenacious reporting that revealed how some retired generals, working as radio and television analysts, had been co-opted by the Pentagon to make its case for the war in Iraq, and how many of them also had undisclosed ties to companies that benefited from policies they defended.

By whom were these "ties to companies" undisclosed and for whom did these deeply conflicted retired generals pose as "analysts"? ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN and Fox -- the very companies that have simply suppressed the story from their viewers. They kept completely silent about Barstow's story even though it sparked Congressional inquiries, vehement objections from the then-leading Democratic presidential candidates, and allegations that the Pentagon program violated legal prohibitions on domestic propaganda programs. The Pentagon's secret collaboration with these "independent analysts" shaped multiple news stories from each of these outlets on a variety of critical topics. Most amazingly, many of them continue to employ as so-called "independent analysts" the very retired generals at the heart of Barstow's story, yet still refuse to inform their viewers about any part of this story.

4. WHY is this being allowed to sink into obscurity?
This strikes directly at the very notion of a free press.

Thank you, NNN0LHI, for sharing this with us.

10. I hate the media...
They serve up the most obnoxious monstrous creatures imaginable as "news analysts"...
They repeatedly decry their objectivity and trustworthiness in a way that simply
makes me trust them less and less...
The media is perhaps the worst enemy; if they'd done their jobs correctly back in 2000,
Butch and his bunch would never have ended up squatting in the WH for so long...

Their abdication of their duties in the last 20-30 years or so is nothing short of
TREASONOUS!

20. The Media, Reverends, Rabbis, Corporations, Stockholders, Politicians, Think Tanks, Councils
Edited on Wed Apr-22-09 09:02 AM by peacetalksforall
and Foundations and the BARONS who direct it all.

Though all these entities share, the media is at the heart. We allowed it.

These networks, plus their affiliated magazines and newspapers.

It's about imperialism for earth resources, exemption from law and accountability, control of all people for the benefit of the those who planned all of this. The media will want you to believe it's the politicians whose names you know who are behind everything - those directing it all are never mentioned. Sometimes, not even on alternative sources.

For those who are still watching these stations: The goal of concerned citizens is to get to a point of not watching them. Those among us who are just starting to understand the takeover, should watch to see how they do it. Realize how perfectly orchestrated the media part of their plan is and how much they accomplished to have all those networks doing the same thing in parallel. Observe and you will come to see the orchestration. Eventually, you will not need to watch any of it. You will find answers in the alternative sources. Eventually, you will leave the media who is at war against you. You won't need orchestrated news, propaganda fodder, you won't need to be taken in. You will come to see how predictable they are. If you know the talking points for the day - you will know what they are going to say. You will see that some of them are not bad at acting, some are terrible.

You will even observe how the reporting of some events (things they didn't orchestrate) is delayed - sometimes as much as 24 hours so that they can receive direction about how to respond, how to control it, correct it, spin it - especially if it is revalatory about them. Negative.

The other 'experts' should be observed along with the Pentagon 'experts'. They come from the think tanks, foundations. (Heritage, AIPAC, AEI, etc.) - there are also Wall Street 'experts' and morality 'experts'. They all have a mission. You will hear it. You will be able to see right through it. Expert mostly means expert liars and dis-tortion-ists.

17. The True Nature of the Iraqi Regime is Being Revealed for All the World to See:
Edited on Wed Apr-22-09 08:43 AM by OnyxCollie
The True Nature of the Iraqi Regime is Being Revealed for All the World to See:

-Brutal treatment of captured POWs.
-Lies about Iraqi adherence to Geneva Convention, which they have blatantly violated.

06-F-1532BriefingsandTalkingPoints2001-2003Folder3.pdf, p. 6.

The Iraqis' treatment of POWs blatantly violates the Geneva Convention, but it will not deter us from the mission.

-People who treat POWs badly will be treated as war criminals.
-Any Coalition combatants held by the enemy must be considered Prisoners of War (POW) and be treated in accordance with the Geneva Convention.
-Article 13 of the Geneva Convention states: "Prisoners of war must at all times be protected, particularly against acts of violence or intimidation and against insults and public curiosity."
-The U.S. is currently holding more than 2,000 Iraqi POWs. They are being treated humanly and in accordance with the Geneva Convention. They are being given food and water, and have access to medical care.

06-F-1532BriefingsandTalkingPoints2001-2003Folder3.pdf, p. 17.

From the Secretary
Saddam's lies and deception
"It's interesting to me that a government that consistently does not tell the truth seems not to pay a penalty. Everything (the Iraqis) say is accepted. Everything they say is repeated. Everything they say, notwithstanding the fact that they have lied over and over and over again..." Pentagon News Briefing- Sept. 30, 2002.

21. K&R -- we read about it on the web
We read about the so-called independent analysts, as well as manufactured news segments and such, but that didn't stop our conservative-owned and dominated TV/cable media from running with their pro-war programming.

The Bush years were really exhausting like that. Reading the truth on our websites and news from other countries and watching US TV media continue to support their policies, with 20% dissenting voices tossed into the mix.
