Sure, she alienated the gay and lesbian audience and probably lost the crown by saying "Marriage should only be between a man and a woman," but Miss USA loser Carrie Prejean has no regrets.



Matt Lauer gave Carrie a second chance to answer the controversial question this morning on "Today." Her answer: "The way that I answered might have been offensive ... but for me, it was being Biblically correct."

once you strip away the bimbo-speak part of it, it's pretty much the same thing that President Obama said last year during the campaign, and I haven't seen him back off of it. I'm much more interested in his true opinion about the subject, rather than some anorexic fundie whose title really won't bring world peace.

That's her angle. Now, as for this "Perez Hilton" character with the made-up name, I had never heard of him before this incident. Clearly, he was using the opportunity to judge a Miss "Be an Anorexic Like Me" pageant to remedy that situation with a lot of people. I'm sure it didn't take him more than a few hours of Internet research to find one fundie bimbo among fifty who would show up, and give him an answer to a question that a beauty pageant winner has zero influence on in the first place. Looks like he's getting his fifteen minutes, too.

And above the whole thing is the laughing figure of Donald Trump. He pulled a publicity stunt a few years ago where he got to look magnanimous with Tara Conner, when she was found to have been less than Barbie-pure. More than being either a developer or capitalist, he's a showman first and foremost. He knows that thinking people have been paying less and less attention to these meat parades, and he's drummed up some phony interest in this one.

We're all being played by each of these three, the best thing to do is let them slip back into the obscurity from whence they came.
