Bombings Kill 9, Wound Dozens in Iraq

BAGHDAD - A parked car exploded near a hospital in Baghdad's main Shiite district on Saturday _ the deadliest in a series of bombings that killed at least nine people and wounded dozens in Iraq, police said.

The blast in Sadr City occurred about 10:30 a.m. and was targeting street vendors and pedestrians just outside the entrance to the al-Sadr General Hospital. Police said at least five people were killed and 15 wounded.

A plume of black smoke rose from the scene while firemen sprayed water on smoldering cars.

The attack came two days after a double suicide attack struck a market in the nearby Shiite Shaab neighborhood, killing at least 82 people on one of the deadliest days since the war started four years ago.<snip>

2. I understand why "they" hate "us", but could they find a way to express
that hatred more directly without intentionally slaughtering shoppers and hospital visitors who, according to polls, probably hate us as much as they do. :eyes:

3. The MSM will somehow turn these facts around and still declare the surge is working
Example: Senator McCain issued a statement that the streets of Baghdad were much more secure and soldiers could walk the streets unarmed in many places...Wally..That evening a reporter from CNN on the ground in Baghdad reported that the streets were unsafe and soldiers could not walk the streets without being armed or without incident's. The next evening that same reporter gave a completely opposite story saying that in many places it was secure and the surge was apparently working. So did the CNN producer get to that reporter overnight,I think so.

4. Michael Ware changed his report?? If that's true, CNN's CORPORATE assholes got to him.
:( That's not Michael Ware. He must have been threatened if he didn't change his bleak story to a rosy one.

5. Yes he did and it was an obvious scripted question from
Blitzer..."Just how bad are the streets of Baghdad"..Then he went on to say there were areas that were secure and so forth...But what was obvious was the situation he described was certainly much less violent than he described the evening before, and he actually said there were signs that the surge is working.. One would have had to watch both broadcasts to see that he did change his story..so yes the corporate management obviously got to Michael Ware..

6. That's so damn sad. I hope he writes a big thick book about what he knows.
He could write a book and become a millionaire and tell the CNN Corporation to take a hike! He's the best thing to happen to CNN since Ted Turner owned it.
