Burns attends hearing at county offices
HAMLIN -- Lincoln County Superintendent of Schools David Roach confirmed Tuesday afternoon, April 14, that a hearing has been held regarding the suspension of Lincoln County High School teacher/coach, Chris Burns.
Roach said he could not comment regarding the matter except to say that a hearing was held.
Burns was suspended from his teaching and coaching duties at LCHS when officials became aware of allegations that he had inappropriate contact with a student or students at the Hamlin school.
Following the suspension, The Lincoln Journal Website has been swamped with comments from people in the community, alleging that Burns and other teachers at the school have had inappropriate relationships with students.
Roach said that having a hearing in such cases is "routine." He said no decisions were made and "the investigation is continuing."
Roach initially suspended Burns without pay for 30 days, although he said the suspension could be longer.
