A dream come true...inspiring video (embedding disabled - pls use link)
Watch this video. It brought tears to my eyes! It's a testimony to the fact that when you look at ordinary people - you just never know what talent might be lurking there. Don't judge people by their looks. Also, it's a testimony to dreams coming true - even for a plain-looking older woman from some tiny town in Scotland.

1. I'm still crying
for the beauty of her voice and her dream. The judges owned up to their prejudice--it was amazing to watch their faces as she started singing.

2. It was instantaneous. As soon as a note came out - they were astonished...
..you just don't see that every day. I welled up with tears at that moment and didn't stop until the video was over! What a day for her! What a voice!

3. I think she will win
and I hope she gets a fat recording contract. People are yelling "makeover", but I liked the way she looked--because it shows that talent comes in all shapes and sizes.

5. a makeover would be the worst thing. Every talented singer, artist, or whatever...
...doesn't need to look like Barbie - or whatever eye-candy is the rage these days. Leaving her just as she is would encourage a more healthy paradigm in the way people view and think about others based on their appearance. That's another thing that was so inspiring about this video. She SHOWED them that it doesn't matter. In the end, it wasn't even a consideration. I'm afraid though, if she gets a big recording contract, it might be. And that would be a sad thing. But - if SHE's happy - and that's what she wants, I hope she gets it. She certainly has a stellar voice.

4. Beautiful surprise. I hope she reaches her dream.
Whatever happened to the male opera singer that knocked everyone off their feet?

8. She defied the song just by singing it...
There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame

He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came

And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed.
