Wheee!!! Gas has risen nearly $1/gal here in only 2 months' time!
In late January, there were stations in town at $1.85.

Today, citywide it's gone up to $2.75.

WOO HOOO!!!

Thank gawd that The Surge is working to stabilize Iraq and the Middle East. I'd hate to think what gas would be at otherwise!

Hold onto your undies, people, it's just beginning. (I paid 6.30 for airplane fuel yesterday)

19. $6.30!?! Was that Jet-A or 100LL?
I had to give up flying because I can't afford it any more. Might have to ditch the car and take up bicycling (which will probably do me in).

20. Jet-A. It's insane.
Edited on Sat Mar-31-07 09:55 AM by karlrschneider
I could never afford it if it was coming out of my pocket. :grr:

edit: Here - they used to put prices on their web page but don't do it any more. Can't say as I blame 'em.

5. Nobody Listened To Me...
I said to load your garages with barrels of oil back in early November '06, right around election time.

Anybody who expected gas prices to stay at those low levels were smokin' something. There isn't a reason to lower them until the next election, when the repubs want to make things look fine again, and that won't be for at least another 12-18 months.

6. Diesel's been over $3.00 for quite a while here in the
Chicago area. I know a lot of Americans don't use diesel for their vehicles, but Mr. Wonderful's work van does and he's been bitching about the price for over a year.

I finished the spreadsheets to take to the accountant for tax preparation yesterday and Mr. Wonderful's cost for diesel doubled in price over what he paid in 2005.

Diesel never went down in price before the November election, the way gasoline did either.

I've seen prices for regular unleaded here in the SW burbs of Chicago of $2.75/gallon. I'm expecting at least $3.00 or maybe more by next weekend...

8. I found a station at $2.79
and had to wait on line half an hour. The other stations are in the $2.90 range.

At this rate it will be $3.00 this weekend. If Iran is attacked, we will be looking at $4 to $5 a gallon.

9. Yep - hubby just traded down.
Edited on Fri Mar-30-07 06:18 PM by Clark2008
He traded his 2003 truck on a 2001 car because gas was eating us alive.

We also needed a four-door something because we have a baby on the way and the two of us, our son and the future daughter wouldn't be able to go anywhere in one car and save money. I have a sports car, which will seat four, but it wasn't comfortable to hubby since he's bigger than me. It's good for me to drive since I'm small, though.

We certainly weren't going to get a gas-guzzling SUV or a mini-van, so from truck to car we went.

15. $2.55 in Dallas suburb
And it's at Racetrack, normally the lowest priced place in town. I did find a 7-11 to fill up at, though, for 2.49/gal tonight.
