wow. DU is having a difficult time coping with a democratic leader.
DU:

united against traitors,

divided against a democratic leader.

it's simple folks:

those who look for the silver lining are those who look forward to the next 4 yrs of policies that are not designed to turn our country into a fascist state, as we saw in the last 8 yrs.

no one expected the revolution to come by electing Obama.

those who voice their objections to the current admin's policies does so with every right, and is much encouraged. we will not be fooled again, and no one should sit idly by when there is an objection to br voiced.

the key thing to remember here, which has been pointed out constantly, is:

HAVE RESPECT FOR ONE ANOTHER.

no one should have top be quiet, and no one should feel bad for looking for the positive in every situation.

just stop being rude, snarky, and all out vicious. it's both sides.

R E S P E C T

learn it, live it, and love it. be constructive, not destructive.

alright, i'm ready:

3. Eh. There are some people who express genuine
Edited on Fri Apr-03-09 02:55 PM by geek tragedy
outrage over X policy or Y decision.

And then there are people who look for stuff to complain about and then engage in the most absurd hyperbole possible in denouncing the guy. The bozos who refer to him as a 'war criminal' or who talk about impeaching him, etc etc.

The latter group do this stuff for their own psychological proclivities. If they really were about policy, they'd spend their time volunteering in activism instead of insulting Obama behind an anonymous screen name in a discussion forum. They know that ranting here won't change a damn thing.

6. i have to admit, i really do see both sides of this:
no one wants to come here and be branded a kool aid drinker because something good happened and they are excited, and no one wants to come here to voice there objection to something that should be done but is not and told to STFU.

the problem is that there are some genuine shit stirrers on both sides, but they are few and far between, and they manage to get both sides riled up.

10. What's unfortunate is that there's nowhere for
Democrats to go where being supportive of a Democratic President won't lead to them being insulted as Kool-aid drinking, cultish cheerleaders.

Normally, it's the Freepi who use that language. But, the leftwing ANGER!!!!! chorus uses the exact same talking points.

And then they hide behind the "people want to stifle dissent" canard. No, nobody is calling for a lack of policy-based criticism. What people want is merely for the criticism to be ABOUT POLICY, and not what about what a rotten liar/sellout/evil bastard Obama is.

There is no greater proof that it's not about policy than the fact that they can't confine the discussion to criticisms of policy, but feel compelled to disparage Obama as a person.

11. i agree. attack policies at will, but not Obama as a person, or fellow DUers.
we should always continue to challenge each others views and opinions. not make ourselves look like asses.

7. They are here because it's their only venue
I rarely come to this website anymore because its an echo chamber for people who can never be satisfied. I can say that roughly half of them will never be happy under a capitalist system, another major portion will never be happy with a deployed military. The rest just get shouted down as apologists or republican-lite.

12. Fair criticism of Obama is not division.........
Its our right as Americans to voice our opinion. I worry more about those who want to silence critics.

13. I think maybe "fair" is the key word here
Of course, the opinion of what is "fair" varies. And those that use "fair" criticism should also use "fair" acknowledgment of his accomplishments.

It would also be beneficial if criticisms were designed to be constructive instead of obnoxious.

21. Thanks. Will check out!
I sorta lost track of Clutch after Elephant Riders, which after that they shifted gears a bit ... not quite as heavy. I've got that east coast anti-Bush doom comp w/Sea of Destruction, Hidden Hand, Earthride...killer bands. I think Blast Tyrant was the last Clutch record I picked up. Cool band tho. Outstanding lyricist, solid drummer and good grooves.

15. I wonder if this is the reason Pelosi and crowd treat progressives
as the enemy. Perhaps, they feel that nothing they do will ever makes us happy. Not excusing them, just finally understanding why they might have reached the conclusions they have.

22. The Lines Have Been Drawn! Do Not Mess With The Lines!
Too late dude.

At this point we've reduced it to two teams pretty much.

People who are "against" Obama and people who are "for" Obama. The people who defend Obama's actions are quickly painted by those "against" Obama...they're reduced to cheerleaders. Those who criticize Obama, whether it's on one topic or in general are "haters."

Your best bet at this point is to just come over here and hang out with me because the lines have been drawn and the shooting has started. You might as well get a show out of it.

24. I've openly agreed and supported many of President Obama's decisions.
He seems to be a genuine family man as well.

It's the offshoring and economy issues that are leaving me confused and worried.
