MN DFL Headquarters Broken Into…Again
By: Nicole Belle on Thursday, March 29th, 2007 at 6:25 PM - PDT

You know, this all has a vaguely familiar sound to it. Anybody seen G.Gordon Liddy recently? I'm just sayin'…

Minnesota Monitor:

For a second time this month, someone has broken into DFL Headquarters in St. Paul. Indications are that the intruder broke into the office of Andrew O'Leary, the DFL's executive director, stealing a computer that was not visible from outside of the building and going through materials in his desk.

Two weekends ago, an intruder smashed a window and stole a laptop from the office of Nick Kimball, the DFL's Interim Communications Director. The DFL has no official statement on this latest incident.

The article was updated to state that more than a laptop was stolen in the second robbery, without specifying what. Perhaps not so coincidentally, there are reports of similar thefts to Democratic offices in Ohio and New Hampshire. Funny how they're all Democratic offices, isn't it?

5. And in at least three of the break-ins in two of the states...
computers were the only thing taken. In New Hampshire the police and party aren't talking about what was stolen.

Me thinks this stinks.

2. Maybe they should plant trash. That way the republicans
will go off on the wrong track.

4. Actually that's not a bad idea...
If they were smart they would just put camara's everywhere and see what happens.

If the Repugs want big brother then give it to them...

17. my God, can you imagine the spin if they planted fake trash for RWers to loot?
"Coming up on The Factor: Democrats accused of planting phony memos and notes of strategy sessions in offices of local headquarters. This story broke when a group of concerned Republicans came forward with the news that they found, in the trash bins of Democratic offices, pages and pages of forged and phony documents meant to look like strategy and meeting notes. What are they trying to hide? With me is former Speaker Newt Gingrich, and Fox News Contributor Brit Hume. Newt, lets start with you: Why are Democrats playing politics by leaving fake documents for Republican staffers?"

24. Yea..and I believe they would blame the Dems
Same kind of logic * is trying to use

If the Democratic party sends the war funding bill to my desk and they force me to veto it, it will show the American people the Dems don't support the troops....:wtf:
(It hurts to think like them)

Same players too! Cheney, Rummy....

Phone jamming in NH in 2006.

Question: If it was the 2nd time,

why did they leave the computer in the office?

Or anything of value?

8. These aren't normal robbers in my mind.
The odd things stolen suggest something. Why not steal more? Why those particular things?

9. I thought the thiefs took a concealed laptop.
Did I read the post wrong?

Why would the mgr of that office leave sensitive info there after the 1st break in?

This shit seems to happen a lot at political offices. :grr:

11. Are you all aware that this was happening in 2004?
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 10:28 PM by drm604
It happened in the local Democratic headquarters here in Montgomery County, PA. They stole laptops (with phone canvassing data) but didn't touch cash that was there. This was considered a key county in a key state. It also happened a number of other places in the country. Search DU and Google.

16. I know this happened in Green Bay and Milwaukee, WI.
Each place had one campaign laptop lifted in broad daylight during busy office times.

14. Security Cameras.
The problem may be money. Our local headquarters (the one I mentioned in my previous post) is located in a little rundown storefront in the wrong end of town. I actually had to personally buy paper towels and toilet paper for the place in 2004.

The campaign workers should have taken the laptops with them when they left each evening. I may suggest that next year.

19. Kerry needs the money for his Senate run
He gave or raised more money for others in 2006 than any other Senator. Security is an issue and the DNC should be addressing it. Can't you find someone else - other than Kerry - to hold responsible.

20. To be fair
they did eventually move the phone-banking to a large complex in a much nicer area. They also ran the election day GOTV program from that same complex. But this was temporary and only for a few weeks immediately before the election.

23. I've wondered if it could have been an inside job at ODP (thru unlocked window)
BTW ...ODP is located in a high crime area on the near east side (read second paragraph)

Ohio Democrats victims of break-in
Thieves grab computer from party headquaters in Columbus

By STEVE EDER and JAMES DREW
BLADE STAFF WRITERS

COLUMBUS — Thieves targeted the Ohio Democratic Party Headquarters this week, stealing a computer and a high-tech communications gadget belonging to party chairman Denny White.

Police said yesterday one or more burglars appeared to have climbed a wall Monday and crawled through an unlocked second-story window overnight at the party headquarters about three blocks from the Statehouse.

The break-in occurs at a time when the Ohio Republican Party is threatened by one of the largest scandals to hit the state’s government in decades.

Some Democrats also say the break-in is eerily similar to a burglary at the Lucas County Democratic Party Headquarters last fall, in which three computers were stolen.
