Hydrogen advocates! Figure out a way to exploit THIS!
I was flipping through the back alleys of the Internets when I came upon h2incidents.com.

It's what it sounds like: a digest of industrial accidents in which hydrogen was present.

Some of them are...well, reaching...like the one where the prototype hydrogen-powered city bus fell off a set of jackstands because the mechanics didn't realize how ass-heavy it was. This rates right up there with (this is no shit) one of my troops getting put on Track 2 for an "alcohol-related incident" because, while stone sober, he tripped over an untied shoelace and fell down the stairs at the PX while he had a case of beer on his shoulder.

And then we come to Bona Fide Hydrogen Incidents like this one...

http://www.h2incidents.org/incident.asp?inc=106&cat=2&val=9

in which a tank full of semichemical pulp at a paper mill had become infected by bacteria. The bacteria managed to create enough hydrogen to blow the manhole cover completely off the tank and to deform the top of the tank into a hemisphere. Something tells me that if you can manage to unintentionally create enough hydrogen to fuck up a storage tank, you should be able to intentionally do it, extract it through pipes and store it for later use.

Now here's the $64,000,000 question: how many of these little bastards would you need to eliminate the need to extract hydrogen from natural gas?
