Tornado warnings, funnels on the ground in northwestern Tennessee and south central Kentucky
Nothing here yet, it was very windy but now it's calm so I know it's on the way.

Was on the phone with boyfriend who's in Tennessee, he had to herd his mom and step-dad into the cellar, their cows sirens went off a few minutes ago.

I'm going out now with camera, weather radio and cell phone.

Will keep updating while I have power.

8. Good luck, hope all goes well...I still remember how scared I was
back on April 3, 1974 during that huge tornado outbreak in the middle of the US.

I was living in TN at the time (a short-term transplant from Mass, where tornadoes aren't all that common).

I got to see a real live funnel cloud, but nothing came close to where I and the kids were hiding. I got out to see some of the damage the next day.

To this day, I still have nightmares about funnel clouds.

11. I hear you, I'm from Vermont originally.
I think taking pictures of the storms helps me cope with the feeling of helplessness. I mean, crap, you can see blizzards and hurricanes coming days ahead of time, these monsters hit usually at night and you can't even see what's coming to kill you. Just those damn air raid sirens making the hair stand up on the back of your neck.

9. Tornado warning here now, sirens going off.
Lost satellite signal, still have internet radar (obviously) and weather radio, no word from bf.

Not pouring here yet, going back out.

10. Pebble size hail, winds picking up, rotating wall cloud reported 3 miles west headed this way...
Sirens still going off, hoo boy, tornado watch continues until 9pm.

Didn't really think we'd get this today, I had a nap planned.

12. They just gave the all clear for now, winds are howling, though, temp dropped 20 degrees
No sign of severe damage in my area, still trying to contact bf.

Everyone east of Nashville, get ready, these are some bad storms.

14. LOL!
I think it stands for community warning signal, they're just called COWS down here.

They sound just like air raid sirens and they'll wake up the dead.

They need to add many more here in the rural areas, I have two weather alert radios but not everyone else does.

Here's a picture of one not too far from me:

15. I had a vision of some kind of siren out in a pasture designed
to warn the cattle to come back to the barn or something. Little sirens hanging off thee necks of individual cows, maybe?

16. I think the animals are far more intelligent than we are. When I see birds taking cover, I do too.
I call my cat Beaker "Radar Cat". He (we) survived one close miss with a twister and also a lightning strike on our central air unit a few years back, now he wakes me up long before I can see lightning or hear thunder. Poor kid is terrified of storms now.
