UPS has shown its commitment! Now let us support UPS!
UPS just had the balls to stand up against hypocrisy by pulling its ads from the O'Reilly show! Now let us show our support by sending packages via UPS the next time we ship something. They took a a stand, so let us show them some love!

Way to go UPS!

12. Not as bad as FedEx Ground.
UPS isn't bad, as long as you insist that things shipped to you require signature. This is a pain, but it makes sure you get your shipment.

I have never had worse service than from FedEx Ground. I once went to their shipping facility to get an item for a missed delivery, and cooled my heels for two hours, until they told me they "couldn't find it" but "it would be on the truck tomorrow" and "make sure you're home between 8 AM and 6 PM."

USPS may have its limitations, but in general it's cheaper, better, and if something isn't delivered you can reliably get it at your local Post Office. UPS, for other items, is a good second choice. FedEx Ground is eleventh choice, right behind strapping the package to a stray dog and hoping it gets to its destination.

15. I've had the worst time with FedEx Ground to pick up something
It was something our business was shipping back and it took 5 days and multiple phone calls to get the driver to pick up the darn thing. PITA!

But I have to say, other than that, all the shipments we get from FedEx Express, FedEx Ground and UPS are all well handled for. Plus I think all three hire very nice delivery people. Never had a nasty person from any of them.

19. Not many union carriers left.
I think there is UPS and Yellow/Roadway. Maybe a few regional carriers here and there. Can't think of any other big truck lines under contract with the Teamsters.

They need all the freight we can give them because non union companies will haul shit so cheap that they barely break even on the load in an attempt to take market share from the union haulers.

8. I'd love to but my husbad works for FedEx - started working for Kinko's before it was purchased
Edited on Fri Mar-27-09 10:37 PM by csziggy
He thought about going for manager until FedEx bought it. Now he is happier just being a low paid peon with good benefits. ALL managers, even low lever ones, took a "voluntary" pay cut last fall at the same time they quit matching 401k contributions.

Hourly employees' pay was not cut but there has been a hiring freeze for months. Hubby's store has 1/2 to 2/3 the number of employees they are supposed to have, but cannot hire anyone. The store is still expected to meet their "numbers" which is pretty close to impossible if there are not enough people to help customers. They are not allowed to work overtime if at all possible, so everyone works hard with absolutely no breaks for their eight hour shifts.

I love UPS service - when our regular driver has the route. Otherwise the drivers can't find our farm or if they can, they can't find the house, even with LOTS of signage.

Edit to fix title

9. Especially since Fed Ex promised to cancel Boeing orders if card check is passed
UPS, Union shop, all the way!

Give them all of FedEx's business so that they can buy the jets and make up for Fed Ex's assholery.

10. Brown rules!
I have a couple of friends who work for UPS, and the union has a strong say there.

They deserve every pro-unionist support.

Everything I ship or receive with UPS is always on time and in good condition when it arrives.

Any time you have the option of using a union carrier, please give them your business.

20. I've worked for a number of different truck lines, on the dock
and as a driver. So many that I probably couldn't even name all of them. They all tear stuff up sometimes but the union job I had at Roadway was the only one that paid decent and had good benefits. If you want to support carriers that are in direct competition with the union companies, that's your business. I'm sure the Republicans appreciate your support.

have taken your comment about UPS tearing up so much freight as anything but a show of support for them? I guess I'm supposed to be a mind reader.
