2. Silly
A probational period is one thing, but that sounds like an offer to get used and thrown away. And reeks of lack of confidence. Still, good luck to her.

3. Jobs are that tight .......
Yeah, well, the idea of someone working for free for almost four months must make the applicant a bit more appealing.

Jesus, what a world this has become ...................

4. I passed the bar exam during a bad recession
Spent damn near forever looking for work. Decided to take another bar exam so I would be licensed in two states - something I thought would make me better qualified along the border area and something which would expand my job search area. I finally got a job offer. Asshat could not meet payroll two weeks after I took the job. I resumed my job search and continued working for pro rata wages until I found another job.

I completely understand why a new lawyer would do this. It is an opportunity to make some contacts, build some loyalties and gain some experience. If she proves herself she may have a job. If she doesn't then she is ahead of where she was if she has in fact made some contacts and built some loyalties.

6. We need to start a DU lawyer's club.
As in "passed bar exam but can't get a job".

My segment is "have J.D., no bar card, but can't get a job".

Oh well.....I have other things to do that are lots more fun.

Hope I can get paid for them.

7. You would think a law firm would be smarter than that
She can file a slam dunk wage claim at the end of the 15 weeks.
