NEW YORK - The Freedom Tower is out. One World Trade Center is in. The agency that owns the site says that the signature 1,776-foot skyscraper replacing the towers destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001, will be known as One World Trade Center. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29913195/ YES! :toast:

3. Bushspeak is getting replaced, and not a minute too soon either
Now if we could get rid of evildoers, enemy combatant, and first responders I would start believing that the use of language can be a beautiful thing again

7. The Name "Freedom Tower" Was Absolutely Repulsive
And I'm New Yorker, so only my opinion matters on the subject.

I think the original name serves as a far more appropriate memorial to those who died. The Rethugs drove me nuts with their constant reference to "3,000 Americans," when that was not the case. Many who died that day represented countries across the world.

12. The only negative to this story
Is the fact that the "Freedom" name was only dropped because the Chinese company that leased a good chunk of the not-yet existing tower insisted on it. The name was dumb (as is the design of the tower) from the beginning, but in this case, they dropped it for the wrong reason.

26. The site needs functional, quiet, understated, stoic, sublime, American grace.
All of the over the top 1776 Freedom Tower Hyperbole is nauseating. I would re-design the building and the whole site with that in mind.
