3. She's probably looking for a McCain staffer to "pray" with...
She'll likely have to settle for one of her kids.

10. Lucky it wasn't a big explosion, but one could be on the way. No way of
knowing other than watching for seismic activity.

Just now my monitor at Wrangell Island showed some EQ activity. I use GEE to watch in near real time.

11. I'm sure this will go on for a while. I've been through a couple of
eruptions in the past. A couple of summers ago I was fixing some shingle on my house and got a face full of ash from the last time we had an eruption.

If I was nearby, I'd probably have a touch of anxiety.

19. It really is fascinating. Especially when its clear and you can see it with your
on eyes. As for anxiety, just prepare and let nature follow it course. I'm more worried about earthquakes myself.

23. That earthquake was in Canada, so it wasn't near you.
I used to live in an active area on the edge of the great rift valley. We've had a few small tremblers here in Central Ky.

A little less toxic. I remember the volcano smell from previous eruptions - it's pretty distinctive.

and you can sort of taste it. It's not too unpleasant yet, but it could get worse overnight.

16. Nice shot, Alfredo.
It's a little cloudy here in Anchorage, but there's a faint whiff of volcano in the air. According to the weather forecast, the wind is supposed to shift overnight and we may get some ashfall over here. If we do, I'll take a picture.

37. Augustine is one of my favorites, too,
maybe because the 1976 Augustine eruption was the first one I experienced up here. I remember going fishing down on the Kenai Peninsula the following summer, and the ash was thick on the ground, like dust.

42. Alfredo, in case you're not paying attention,
Redoubt erupted again this evening about an hour and a half ago. This makes the 10th eruption since last Sunday night. By comparison, in the 1989-90 eruption cycle, it erupted 40 times over a six-month period, sending ash at most 40,000 feet into the air as compared to 65,000 feet this time.

With Good Friday coming up, I'm hoping nothing disastrous happens.

Good Friday 1964 - the Earthquake
Good Friday 1989 - EXXON VALDEZ
Good Friday 2009 - ??
