Is There Really Going To Be a New Afghanistan Strategy Announcement Tomorrow...?
from The Washington Independent: http://washingtonindependent.com/35855/is-there-really-going-to-be-a-new-afghanistan-strategy-announcement-tomorrow

It’s not totally clear that the Obama administration is going to do this, but just in case the administration is planning on releasing its completed Afghanistan-Pakistan strategy review — the Christian Science Monitor has a no-alarms-and-no-surprises account of it here (http://www.csmonitor.com/2009/0326/p02s01-usmi.html?page=1) – tomorrow, let me say: what a terrible idea. This is a new approach to a war, involving a deepened American commitment of blood and treasure. Unveiling it on a Friday looks cynical and callous, like they’re trying to sneak it past the public through a document dump while everyone starts working for the weekend. It’s disrespectful to both the troops who serve in Afghanistan and the public that’s going to be asked to deepen support for them.

Monday? I’d clear my calendar for that. Come on now.

2. I am very interested in this
As I have noted before my son is in the Army (Ft. Hood) and this could affect him (I was interested way before he joined and my youngest son signed up, but now more so).

3. 4000 more troops to be deployed behind the initiative to 'train' Afghan forces

I'm just waiting for the rest to be able to view it in its comprehensive form and get a better picture of what the ultimate goals are, the prospects for achieving them, and the potential consequences and effects.

Best of luck to your sons . . .
