Impeached former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich guest-hosted the morning talk show on news-talk station WLS, and took to his new job like a pro.
“It seems like only yesterday I was governor of the fifth-largest state in America, and now I’m sitting here in the seat Don Wade sits in. You can say I’ve reached higher office,” Blagojevich said, opening the show.
The show featured an eclectic mix of guests, including ABC News reporter Ann Compton, comedian D.L. Hughley, and sports columnist Jay Mariotti – and two actors in the Second City improv production “Rod Blagojevich: Superstar”.
At the beginning of the show, he attacked Gov. Pat Quinn for his proposal to raise income taxes by 50 percent, saying it’s the “worst thing he can do.”
“I kept the promise not to raise taxes for six years. It took him less than six weeks to break that promise,” Blagojevich quipped.
