Al Franken the Politician - did you see him on David Letterman last night?
Edited on Thu Mar-29-07 01:17 PM by RiverStone
Dave asked Al if he was still allowed to be funny...

Al answered by saying he considered himself a satirist - and (paraphrased) went on to say something like: I can be funny and help people to think; whereas Dave, your just a clown. He got a good laugh anyway!

I think as more folks in MN, who were not regular AA radio listeners hear that Al has a strong command of the issues -and is not just a former SNL writer/comedian - that his popularity will increase.

I also liked the way Al differentiated between his opposition to the war, but his support for the troops. He has gone over to Iraq/Afghanistan several times to entertain them.

On balance, I'd give Al high marks as a "politician." :applause:

And a funny one at that!

1. At least he's being funny on purpose unlike
Say Jerkinhofe or Sanitarium or Doctor Bill or Mr. Elaine Chou.

2. He was great — and the team of Franken and Letterman always works well
together! But I sure miss Al on the radio.

3. Excuse me but was Reagan anything other than a "B" actor??
Not terribly articulate and more a product of the myth built by the Talking Heads than an actual statesman.

6. He was a multi-term president of the Screen Actors Guild, but that was when
he was a registered Democrat.
