After all, wasn't the last Congress (Republican dominated and controlled) supposed to pass a budget for the year? They did, but the left off some important items for funding. And Chimpy got a chance to crow about how his policies were working, and the annual budget deficit was getting smaller. A lot of media chuckleheads willingly fell for it, and spun stories about the robust economy that was about to come roaring back.

Funny thing, though. The deficit numbers looked better mostly because funding for the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan wasn't included in the budget passed by Congress last year. I'll bet your monthly finances would look a lot better if you left off your rent or mortgage payment, huh?

But the bill's coming due, and the grown-ups in power in the White House don't much care for the terms.

everyone will join me in writing their elected representatives, encouraging them to stand tall in the face of the veto threat. The Legislature is OUR voice to the Executive branch. E-mail/phone/postal mail the hell out of the Congress. I'm sure they are getting tired of me :)
The Congress will only act if they are convinced it's what we really want....
