Illegal Drugs are a new battle for authorities in Iraq

Kyra Phillips of CNN just presented a short report on how illegal drugs and being brought into Iraq from Afghanistan and Iran. Money from the drug sales is funding the insurgents, say the police, whose drug investigators have to remain under cover for fear of assassination. People caught heading up drug smuggling operations are executed. While they admit it is the most severe punishment, the authorities say they have never had drug problems there before, and they are not equiped for dealing addicts, etc., and they are trying to stop this new problem before it gets worse.

The next report on CNN was how the Green Zone is getting more dangerous.

1. How many of our soldiers are abusing drugs?

And how are they getting them?

The youth of our military makes them ripe for drug experimentation, and with the permittable/encouraged use of pharmaceuticals for alertness or *whatever*, it's my opinion that they'd be more likely to abuse illegal drugs - whether it's marijuana or heroin.

Haven't we also heard that some of our military is drinking local hooch?
