OMG! Freaky Fundie Lady at work just attributed Natasha Richardson's death to Canadian health care..
...... it's the fault of universal health care, she said.

I just sat here and shook my head.....but one of my co-workers responded 'That's just stupid. Did you read the story or are you listening to Rush right now?'

...... I just e-mailed her a high-five. :yourock:

2. I was waiting for that. It crossed my mind yesterday when some wing-nut was ranting on Thom Hartmann
Edited on Fri Mar-20-09 10:41 AM by Mrs. Overall
about his "sister" waiting half a year to see a Canadian dentist for a toothache. It was obvious he didn't really have a sister in Canada and that he was spouting rehearsed talking points. When I heard it, I thought that they might pull Natasha Richardson into their warped health-care agenda.

8. That's hilarious since teeth aren't usually covered by medicaire in Canada.
Oral surgery yes, but pulling teeth and root canals, no.

And there ain't no shortage of Dentists, unless maybe you live in Yellowknife or something.

10. Oh puhlease
Dental care is NOT part of the Canadian health care system.

Geez Louise. Utter nonsense. I guess LimpBalls repubs just have fuzzy thinking.

4. From Time's 2009 Almanac
Life Expectancy in years:

Canada: Male-76.7 Female-83.6

US: Male-74.8 Female-80.1

Infant Mortality per 1,000

Canada: 4.8

US: 6.4

Yeah, universal health care sucks.

7. Of course. Time-Warner is a pest hole of liberalism and it's all Bill Clinton's fault.

5. I heard that one even before she died....
It would never dawn on the idiots that they wanted Natasha closer to home, so that the entire family could spend time with her.

It would save time to fly her back to New York privately. Also, if one has the means, why not have a second or third opinion?

9. Not to mention the red tape of transporting a dead body
across international borders--you know, the technical stuff, autopsies, etc.
It was much easier to bring her back here, let her family say goodbye and not have to hassle with the other stuff.

11. Geez, can the poor woman rest in peace? She did not realize she had a major brain injury
so she did not seek help soon enough. Its a tragedy but not of the health care system in Canada.

14. I knew those bastards would start pushing that meme - I just
thought they'd have the decency to at least wait until her family had the chance to give her a decent burial...
