Headhunters are making their way through at least JPM, Bank of America and probably Citi and others
saying that congress will be taxing all bonuses at bailout recipients and that they have companies hiring with generous bonuses. I don't think it will be a big drain but some talent is going to be lost by these companies.

1. What if one were to pose as a headhunter just to trick people into quitting their jobs?
You rent an office suite for interviews and such, give them a contract, and the employee gives 2-week notice...

Oh, that would be mean.

3. I would hope if someone went throuh the expense and effort of that it would be targeted at people

they had a grudge against.

Talk about serving it up cold.

Fraudulent inducement.

Yeah, it might still be illegal.

And you COULD get sued-- tortious interference, maybe?

2. TALENT by definition is someone who HELPS your company...
These people that ran these companies are NOT TALENT...

Stop shilling for the corporatocracy on DU!

These people deserve to be working as WalMart greeters at this point not getting bonuses.

On second thought strike that - they belong in jail.

Head hunters are NOT running around hiring these ass clowns.

and see what happens if AIG dies. I understand and share the outrage here but i also KNOW the realities and there simply is no easy or painless way to wind down a company this large period.

19. ddeclue: I hear what you are saying
and on a personal level I would like to see AIG fall apart, I live a very frugal life and have little to lose however the impact of the failure of AIG would be SEVERE! many would suffer, here at home and around the world. is that what i REALLY want??? I dont think so...........

on it.

I have NO patience for people making blackmail justification arguments.

Edited on Fri Mar-20-09 09:24 AM by islandmkl
all the time, just like they always have and always will....THAT'S THEIR DAMN JOB!!

jebus, would you have us believe that there is/are some great talent(s) out there that haven't been under constant recruitment their whole career(s)?

and, how many NEW employees can all these distressed companies (which most financial institutions qualify as) take on?...seems like they will be letting some go to make way for the new guys...

yeah, i can just see it..."Our company is screwed. We are beyond broke." "Call the headhunter. Get us a couple of AIG guys in here."

17. When their wonderful talents lead to growth in those other companies
then other jobs will be created and the unemployment rate will go down.

Though why are these talented people at these failed companies now? Maybe they are not so talented.

And where do these other companies get the $$ to hire them? If the economy is down, that $$ doesn't come from nowhere.

else's jobs are at risk? They are at the top of an economy going down. So why aren't they having to take pay cuts and suffer job losses?

23. The financial industry has had lay-offs too
Especially brokerage firms. I dont think you are using the word "talent" consistantly with "desirable outcomes". The ones likely to jump ship are the ones we don't need or want. Let the rats learn how to swim.

26. awww, the poor widdle companies are going to "lose some talent"
gee, we better "do something." I mean, JPM, BoA, Citi, and "others" are just so .... so worthy of our activism and all. We better "do something" to make sure they don't "lose any talent" that's making them so responsible to the citizenry, such big contributors to the public good, such selfless, altrusitic, generous citizens, so valuable for life on the planet.

Like I care that any scumbag financial corporation is "losing talent." May they lose all their "talent" to hell.

32. Only the ones investing in greed and wrongdoings. Yes, greed is wrong.
THE CHRISTIAN BIBLE SAYS AS MUCH, SEVERAL TIMES OVER!!!!!!!!

"The love of money is the root of all evil".

As the OP didn't post any links, neither should I. The difference is, at least the Bible is more well known in the first place, despite modern day preachers that cherrypick only favored passages, so I don't have to.

34. No one is indispensable - no one
Those who think they are, are in for a big surprise. It may take some a few more years to realize this fact than others, but maybe it's time for some life lessons.

Talent? To be a part of historical failure is nothing to be proud of on your resume.
