SHAME on you Washington Post!
What happened to the Woodward and Bernstein spirit of rooting out corruption and protecting the public interest?
Now you are making excuses for why we must cave into blackmail?
Sorry but I really don't see ANY company turning down government bailout money because the government won't pay the executives their bonuses out of the taxpayers money.
If it were not for the taxpayer funded bailout, there would be no AIG to pay these executives a dime.
In my opinion a 90% tax rate is still paying these guys a 10% bonus - they don't deserve a dime. If it were up to me the Treasury Department would cut them off at the knees and tell them to bring on the lawsuit!
I'd LOVE to see that lawsuit take place because the government could use the legal discovery process as an excuse to put AIG under a microscope and really investigate what went on there and at other financial institutions insured by AIG which would likely lead to a wave of prosecutions under mail, wire and securities fraud statutes.
When 90 Republicans vote to RAISE taxes to a 90% rate, you a CLEARLY on the wrong side of the issue.
The peasants are looking in the barn for their pitchforks right now and you are busy defending the aristocracy.
STOP taking the side of the corporatocracy and START standing up for ordinary Americans.
Disgusted,
