Legislators say say ban on small ATVs, motorcycles hurting Oklahoma

Two Oklahoma lawmakers want the federal government to back off regulations that have shut down the sale of all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles intended for children 12 and younger.
OKLAHOMA CITY —

Two Oklahoma lawmakers want the federal government to back off regulations that have shut down the sale of all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles intended for children 12 and younger.

Ponca City Democrat Ken Luttrell and Sand Springs Republican Rex Duncan say it doesn't make sense to apply lead regulations on children's toys to ATVs and small motorbikes.

The manager of House of Kawasaki motorcycle dealership in Oklahoma City says he has had to tell customers they can't buy the smaller vehicles. Doug Monson says the store could lose $50,000 to $100,000 a year because of the regulation.

The lawmakers are sponsoring a resolution urging the federal Consumer Product Safety Commission to exclude the youth vehicles from the ban on lead toys.

1. It's a known fact that purchasing an ATV lower your IQ by 30 points
I have to chase the idiots away from here all the time before one of them turns his machine over in the creek and kills himself and his dependents sue me. They apparently can't read "No Trespassing" signs and they don't seem to be able to see me standing at the top of the hill with a shotgun in my hand.

Most of 'em don't appear to be kids however.

5. Dunno. I don't converse with them very much.
They don't look like people on their way to a Mensa meeting that's for sure. I don't care if they want to ride those things. I really don't even care if they eliminate themselves from the gene pool in the process. I just don't want it happening on my property.

6. Amen, alot of them dont respect others property!
When I ride on the farm trails in my neighborhood, I stay on the trails. The farmers around here wouldn't care what I do as long as I stay out of the fields which I always do, I have some of my own little bit of trails going into the woods behind my house, about a half mile in length. Theirs alot more trails farther away from me, but they're gated so nobody can be riding on them. The other farmers dont like ATV'ers as much as the one I know.

2. As a responsible dirtbike rider, seeing stuff like this upsets me.
This ban is all F'd up, why deprive kids of enjoying a sport that I and other dirtbike/ATV riders enjoy? Theirs a shit load irresponsible parents buying their children an ATV thats too friggin big, and most of the rednecks I see around here are always tearing shit up.
