Jesus - The Rove machine wormed its way into the GSA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VePqzIrR-ao

The General Services Administration...and it's administrator as you will see in the youtube, hosted republican strategy meetings during management sessions. Onsite. during business hours. It gets good around 2:45 into the video.

Rove's slithery fingers are in everything.

3. I know I shouldn't be surpised, but when the administrator of the GSA
apparently gets up after Scott Jennings had a power point presentation on republican strategy for 2008, at the GSA offices, and says (paraphrasing) that the GSA will do whatever it can for the party, my jaw dropped. the frigging hubris of it all.

4. I had to check to be sure. Yes, it's Bruce Braley (D) new "super-representative" of Iowa
He's been awesome, I've been so thrilled to see him.

He's from my hometown. Gosh, I might live there again just to be represented by him.

You can tell he's a trial lawyer by profession and that's just what we need there.

5. From Thinkprogress...
Rove’s PowerPoint Presentation Revealed During Oversight Hearing

In January, General Services Administration chief Lurita Doan and Karl Rove deputy Scott Jennings held a video conference with top GSA political appointees, “who discussed ways to help Republican candidates.”

Jennings, the White House’s deputy director of political affairs, gave a PowerPoint presentation on Jan. 26 of polling data about the 2006 elections.

When Jennings concluded his presentation to the GSA political appointees, Doan allegedly asked them how they could “help ‘our candidates’ in the next elections.”

The Hatch Act explicitly prohibits partisan campaign activities on federal property.

During a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing today, Rep. Bruce Braley (D-IA) questioned Doan about the contents of Rove’s PowerPoint presentation. Doan repeatedly claimed ignorance of the contents of the slides and the verbal presentation that Jennings made. So Braley reminded her with some examples from this “nonpartisan” briefing:

After showing the slides, Braley told Doan, “I think the American taxpayers have a very good reason to wonder whether the only ‘team’ that was being helped during this briefing was the Republican Party team.”

The Gavel has several more clips from today’s hearing HERE.

6. This has not been covered on any of the "news" programs I've watched today and this is STUNNING
It is in violation of the Hatch Act and leads to Rove.

Waxman is going to investigate this too.

12. Where is the news coverage?
Not ONE major news media outlet is covering this hearing. Not one. If you search Google News for "Lurita Doan", you only find blogs & trade publications. The news wires, at least, will usually cover Congressional hearings even if the papers don't pick up the story. I can't believe that no one in the MSM picked up this story. It's almost like a news blackout.

18. Naw.. they were all at the Radio &TV Correspondents Dinner - laughing at Karl Rove's
funny clownish antics, (that Karl Rove sure makes them laugh when he tries to rap! ) applauding Bush*t's jokes, (wow, he can be REALLY funny!).... stuffing their smiling faces. No time for the news.

22. You're right
Ugh. Too busy laughing it up w/Rove to actually report on what Rove is doing to our government. Just to show the stakes here, today, Doan will be announcing the winner of a $20 billion dollar contract to provide all phone, network & communications for the federal gov. through 2017. I wonder what bribes, graft, & RNC contributions will determine who wins this contract? Doan's decisions will be w/us for a long time to come.

"US government's telecom contract winner to be announced - The U.S. federal government plans to announce Thursday the winners of a 10-year, US$20 billion telecommunications services deal that is the largest pending network buy in the world. The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) said it will announce award of the so-called Networx Universal contract at a press conference to be held at 10:45 Thursday morning in Washington, D.C."

K&R. I can't believe how open & blatant they were about corrupting this agency. How would the GSA help Republicans win, anyway? By offering big no-bid contracts to Republican contributors? GSA is the major supplier to the federal government - there'd be a potential gold mine of shady contracts there.

"On December 2006, Lurita Doan proposed cutting $5 million from the budget of GSA’s Office of the Inspector General for reviewing government contracts for fraud and waste (previous IG audits have allowed the agency to recover billions of dollars of fraudulent contracts). Doan rationalized slashing oversight of contract fraud and waste as a cost-saving measure."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Services_Administration

More like actual inspection of the contracts would reveal how many were given as political payback.

10. Hatch Act violations, criminal conspiracy
I can see why they wanted to clean out the US Attorneys before they could prosecute any of this. The Republican Party was using the federal government to create a racketeering operation.

Everyone is bribed or threatened into compliance.
How do you think he has established a dictatorship in the US.
