I canceled my SIX-MONTH-AT-A-TIME AIGdirect auto policy in early Feb '09 (replacing it with an ANUUAL policy from Liberty Mutual) -- I too say GIVE 'EM HELL!

5. you could also ask for a FREE "quote" -- via their website, or 800#

(1-800-870-8212). goto: https://home.aigdirect.com/AIGDirectWeb (they're now 21st Century... name changed, naturally)

And if you do... be sure to ask about their $170 MILLION BONUS DISCOUNT that you've been hearing so much about... tell 'em you've heard they have better rates than THAT OTHER COMPANY (you know the one with the GECKO)! :fistbump:

8. I've had 21st Century Insurance forever - last year AIG took it over , changing the name to AIG
Direct, Then the name was quickly changed back to 21st Century Insurance due to the bad press.

Now my dilemma - I was very happy with 21st Century Insurance, but now who am I doing business with, and are they viable and trustworthy. I hate dumping a company that I trusted, but I'm quickly losing that trust. What to do, what to do?

14. I somewhat understand your dilemma
I had GE AUTO insurance for several years (after leaving "The Hartford"... because GE was offering better coverage for less than half the cost... and GE also offered ANNUAL policies).

Then AIGdirect bought-out GE AUTO... when renewal time came around, they only offered me a SIX MONTH policy (but the price effectively remained the same). Then, gradually, the rates began creeping upward (same later model cars, no difference in driving distances--less than 7500-miles/yr on both cars, no accidents & no tickets for more than two decades)... IOW: the value of the cars was decreasing, nothing else changed... except AIG's rates, and that just kept going up.

With revelation after revelation, and bailout after bailout... and with even more S**T hitting the fan... after I had renewed for another SIX months... I decided enough was enough. I started looking around for another company... went to several "online quote" places... and eventually ended up CANCELING AIG (with nearly two months remaining on the current policy), and went with Liberty Mutual.

No matter what you decide... I wish you peace-of-mind and good coverage with the outcome!

11. Everyone here should buy a share of AIG and send a team to the next AIG Shareholders Meeting...
.... with a proxies signed from the rest of us to speak.

Now that would be interesting .... maybe suggest the firing of the current President, Executive Officers, and the Board of Directors.

We could each serve in those capacities and do better than lose 180 Billion Dollars.

12. Personally, I hope AIG does well.
Very well indeed.

Then they can pay back the $160 billion or so they owe us. After that, perhaps some legislation is in order to deal with the underlying issue.

They do poorly now, they default. It hurts a few people in the company, and takes a fair amount of our money.

Is your schadenfreude really worth $160 billion of other people's money?

16. I want them to pay the money back as well.
However I don't have much confidence in the entitlement mentality of the leeches taking bonuses in their Financial Products division.

I don't want the company to fail. I want the people responsible fired and replaced with people who can fix the problem, not given retention payments.

I'm just encouraging everyone who feels the same way to let AIG know.
