Why Repukes Out Today Pushing to Let Banks Fail?
Today's marching orders to the Royal Order of Snakes and Assholes (aka: the Republicans)seems to be the theme of "let banks fail". When dealing with these slimebags, one always has to ask "who benefits??". And ALWAYS their motive for any and all things is "protect the rich and fuck everyone else".

Their normal instinct would be to beat every dime out of our hides in order to save their fat boys on Wall Street---the bigger the bank, the more wanting to bail it out. So, what is behind this "game plan"? Do they want such total collapse that the people will beg for "rule by the rich" and turn forever away from any populist message? Are there some rich waiting to scarf up our whole system? I understand there are mega-tons of money from places like the Middle East (and I'm also thinking China) just dying to get back in here as soon as we can "clean up" our financial instituions. Does that translate into "destroy them" and we will become the US banking system? Remember, just like Phil Graham, the repuke bastards work for "people with the money" and not the American people. It would be a-okay to them to sell this country down the drain. Who are they working for today as they all chanted in unison to "let the banks fail"???

2. What I think is
There is a lot of "big money" waiting in the wings to pick up some of these banks when they fail. Even if we nationalized the banks, then once they started doing well the government sold them, it's the same "big money" that has been pulling the strings of the republicans, and some democrats, for years who would be buying those banks up. It's kind of like what happened with the oil industry. There used to b a lo of small companies doing business, then the major companies like Exon started buying up the smaller ones until there is a few big players now that pretty much control things. Same with the media, a few big corporations pretty much own it all. Banks will become the same way with a few "big banks" pretty much controlling things. The Bush family "new world order" where a hand full of rich own everything that really counts like energy, banks, drug companies, the media and even food sources! Not great for the average person, but great for the rich crooks that want it all!

4. Andy--this is always the product of recession
Bingo. The rich let small businesses, medium business, etc. build up and then all goes down the toilet. In the end the big fish scarf up all those "darling small businesses" that they are so fond of publicly weeping over. But here's a hoot----several years ago it was predicted that we would end up with only one bank--Citi!!! Looks like the rich may have shot themselves in the butt this time.

6. You are exactly correct
I thought "Big Money" was going to go after all the homes in foreclosure. Set up huge REIT based mutual funds and National property management networks and we would all be working for the company store once again.

BUT - As usual when dealing with "RATpubliCON Theivery" I wasn't thinking BIG enough.

Heard some Right Wing Talking Point Parrot on CNN money spouting "Everyone I know in Texas is holding Cash and Gold". So they are waiting for some thing even bigger then homes

5. For the same reason they want GM to fail--they want Obama to fail
how hard is that to figure out, and why should anyone have any doubts about it at all? Cutting the GOP any slack over their wish to see the President fail NO MATTER WHAT IT COSTS THIS NATION is just plain dumb. They are the enemies and THEY have no illusions about that.

Its only us Democrats who harbor fantasies of "working together" with the moderate RePukes.

7. Because it is politically advantageous, although they don't really want it to happen....
They figure that taxpayers are tired of bailing out the banks, and since it is a popular position to say..."let them fail" as opposed to actually trying to save them, they are going with that.

But in reality, the GOP doesn't want the banks to fail, but since they know that no one in their right minds is going to let that happen, they advocate it.

It is all purely and cynically political and nothing more.

10. To have the entire thing come crashing down around our heads

is better to them then to have Obama succeed. That would mean their reality ( tax cuts, piss-down ) is not real, does not work, and everything they have fought for over the past years is bullshit. They will go to the ends of the earth to keep from having to change their view of reality.

11. If the government is stupid enough to give everything away to the banks...
the Republicans have an opportunity to seize the popular thunder by profiling themselves as the anti-banking party. They would never, ever do this while in power, and did not at any point in the last 28 years fail to back whatever the banks wanted. But this is their opportunity for a comeback.

The Democrats should do the right thing and stop giving away the Treasury to cover the bad bets made by the banks, which total more than the value of all assets in the world.
