Well, THANK YOU Mr. President!
So what are they, chopped liver?

As he settles into his new job, Mr. Obama said he spent much of his time reading briefing books, but still tried to stay in touch by perusing newspapers and thumbing through weekly newsmagazines. But he said he did not watch much television, except basketball games.

Mr. Obama rode to the White House partly on his savvy use of new media, and he has a staff-written blog on his presidential Web site. Even so, he said he did not find blogs a reliable source of objective information, citing the economy as one example.

“Part of the reason we don’t spend a lot of time looking at blogs,” he said, “is because if you haven’t looked at it very carefully, then you may be under the impression that somehow there’s a clean answer one way or another — well, you just nationalize all the banks, or you just leave them alone and they’ll be fine.”

blogs are purely opinionated writing, making them subjective and not objective.

14. Nor are they edited for accuracy or held to any journalism ethics.
Hate to burst the OP's bubble, but it's true.

3. Are you suggesting he's wrong?
Blogs do what they do, and some of them do it very well... but "objective source of information" isn't exactly high on their list of strong points.

7. Blogs
I totally agree with him.. do you consider the editorial section of the newsrags 'fact'?? They might contain some, but it is sprinkled with opinion and POV.

10. With regard to 'pure' objectivity (whatever the hell that may be)
I wouldn't even trust this guy

I'd be concerned that he'd always come down on the side of the Federation.

11. If DU is any model, the blogosphere's knowledge of economics is abysmal.
It seems that there're still about 25% on DU who suffer under the ridiculous misapprehension that unemployment statistics are based on people collecting unemployment benefits, for just one example. There're only about a half dozen DUers whose economics perspectives are worth my attention -- ProfessorGAC for one.
