John Stewart Absolutely Destroys CNBC
By Meg Marco, 12:39 PM on Thu Mar 5 2009, 15,300 views
If you like CNBC you will probably not enjoy this clip. John Stewart, jilted by CNBC's Howard Beale-esque ranting reporter Rick Santellii, fills the time that would have been dedicated to an interview with more than 8 minutes of .... well, let's just say that we're glad that we're not them.

The aforementioned CNBC bashing really gets going at about 2:25.
Yeowch.

8. It''s worth watching more than once
and not a mention of their claim to fame today (on CNBC)...we watched and listened for at least one of the master financial talking heads to mention it - or maybe even argue that Jon Stewart's take on their great advice was wrong. Silence...even though yesterday Krudlow and Co. were doing the conga anticipating a Chinese stimulus plan was going to pump some new cash in their pockets.

13. The silences as his presentation sunk in.
The eventual booing and palpable discomfort from the audience pretty much said it all.

16. Rick let-them-eat-cake Santilli is the anti-Beale
Speaking on behalf of wall-street has nothing to do with Howard Beale, and frankly I'm tired of the analogy.

18. He Didn't Mention The Playboy Article...
Which it appears GE pushed some weight around to have pulled. It linked Rantelli with some well funded right wing groups, similar to the ones that went after Clinton in the 90's. But he didn't need to...Greed Central's own words and people spoke for themselves...that network has been a joke since it began.

19. I noticed that too-he might have thought it was speculative as opposed to concrete
what they presented was clear cut examples of their incompetence at best

I was thinking the same thing when I saw it. In fact I was wondering if he was going to bring that up with Santelli IF he appeared but then Jon doesn't play the "gotcha" game with guests.

Maybe he is keeping that in his back pocket should Santelli come out of his cave. Not likely to happen now though at least on his show.

20. Rantelli's 15 Minutes Are Up
I sense he was all set to go on with Stewart, but the GE bosses wanted to turn down the light. Now why would that be? You'd think that all this publicity would have been good for ratings. They underestimated Stewart...instead of letting Rantelli look like a fool for 5 minutes, Stewart used twice as many to skewer them. And not a peep about it from either CNBC or MSNBC the next day. Ya know it had to leave a mark.

Be assured the Koch and other operatives will find other moles, there's too much of their riches and influence riding on change and they'll fight it and not care how dirty they get in doing so.

Cheers...

:hi:
