Do you have any friends or associates who listen to rush every day?
Edited on Wed Mar-04-09 07:25 AM by Philosoraptor
I only have one friend, a dear, dear lady, salt of the earth, a real sweetie if there ever was one, and married to a dear friend of mine. She actually puts her fingers in her ears and says, 'la la la la, I can't hear you', when you dare to criticize rush in her presence.

I just can't imagine listening to this bullshit five days a week, 3 hours a day. My God, what IS it with these people?

Trouble is they spout off his bullshit all the time so I know some of it is sinking in. pigboy is going down and going down hard.

3. I don't associate with ignorant people
None of my friends listen to that idiot. They are all too smart! What kind of person gets their info from an admitted drug addict?

An idiot. There is only one answer.

6. I Got Paid To Listen...Does That Count?
I am fortunate...there are no dittoheads anywhere near my world...or if there are, they're smart enough to keep their mouths shut. But I've known plenty of them...including Rushbo himself that I interviewed in 1988 (a collectors item my friends and I still laugh at...he laid out his plans way back then) and over the years I went from being amusing and trying to engage to utter contempt.

Many repugnicans I know claim not to listen to him...either thinking he's trailer trash or prefering another right wing knuckledragger. Honestly, I can't see how any woman or black can listen to that show without becoming violently ill.

Sadly, as we've heard from other DUers here, in many small towns, he's all you can hear at that hour.

7. You were in the actual, glorious presence of the massive mastadon of malice?
You are the only person I've ever sort of known to actually see the great big one!

I was once forced to listen to 3 whole hours of it on a job site once. I put newspaper plugs in my ears.

9. This Was On The Phone...
This goes back to Fall, 1988...right after Rushbo began his show. I was on one of his affiliates (the other day I wrote about cutting the feed for his show one day out of pure fun) and the management thought it'd be fun if I interviewed him. We chatted for an hour...and truth be known, we joked around and had a pretty good time. It was a different Rushbo than now...far less high on himself...continuously saying that people shouldn't take radio and politics too seriously. He did claim that his objective was to present a "conservative viewpoint" that wasn't being heard, but when I pushed him, he also said, it wasn't the job of a "disk jockey" or "entertainer" to be an advocate for a political party or cause. Talk about irony.

Cheers...

11. All repubs call him an 'entertainer', yet they take directions from an entertainer.
How stupid.

17. This Is A Deliberate Tactic...
It's used to bypass any "Fairness Doctrine" bullshit back when he first started doing talk radio in the 80's. By claiming a show was "Entertainment" it avoided any equal time provision. And it became a shield as when Rushbo attacks and a politician tries to shoot back, he'd use the Entertainer line to make the politician look foolish.

I long felt that one of Clinton's problems was he tried to ignore his critics rather than play them for the fools they were. He allowed them to grow by not challengeing them and underestimated all the money and power that was behind not only Rushbo, but those who were using Clinton to gain control of the radio industry.

The real story behind Rushbo is a man named Edward McLauglin:

Rushbo didn't get so all powerful on his own. Now that he's exposing himself, maybe those who control HIS puppet strings will be exposed as well.

Cheers...

15. No, not anymore. When he got off on his drug charge, then violated
his parole in zero-tolerance Florida, I have never heard him again when entering a job site (once that was all you heard.)

Florida is willing to ruin the life of any citizen over less than an ounce.
