1. Knew he was going to fail and hacked off about it.
That sums my attitude over the past eight years.

2. I did.
I'll be honest about it. I wanted him and his gang and their plans to fail miserably.

I knew he was going to fail and laughed when he did.

11. This is not the kind of thing most people will admit too. BUT
I think this whole media obsession with Limbaugh's comments are disingenuous and that most Republicans want the Democratic Pres and most Dems want the Republican Pres to fail.

3. For America to succeed, George Walker Bush had to fail
Edited on Mon Mar-02-09 06:04 PM by derby378
So yes, I damn sure wanted him to fail. But our nation failed instead, and Obama's left to clean up the mess that Herr Decider made.

4. Not me, but I knew that he would
Failure for him meant failure for the country. I don't understand how any patriot would want their president to fail.

5. I wanted him to fail in many ways
Edited on Mon Mar-02-09 06:08 PM by Incitatus
I wanted him to fail in privatizing social security, in starting two wars, and in destroying the Constitution, to name a few.

How do Republicans want Obama to fail, in saving the economy, in providing health care for all Americans?

10. I will say it again ....
I would have loved for the Chimp to bring peace, prosperity, great advancements in human rights, honor, social justice environmental enlightenment .... to this country. That would have been a great success. I would love to see any leader take my country to a higher place, regardless of political affiliation. No, I did not want him to fail. With that said, I saw clearly that the Chimp and others of his ilk would take the country straight into the dumpster. prescience is not that same as desire.

14. I did.
The war against Iraq was an imperialist war, and I wanted that to fail.

Torture is both inhumane and impractical, and I wanted that to fail.

His power grabs upset the system of check and balances and several provisions of the Bill of Rights and constitutional due process, and I wanted all of that to fail.

His privatization scheme would have deformed rather than reformed Social Security, and since I am now living on disability, I am absolutely delighted that it failed.

His war on terror, however, is something I wanted to succeed. I think it would have had a better chance if it had modest goals that could be measured for success and had been a war against specific terrorists, rather than becoming, as it quickly did, a total war on something called terrorism, a word that denotes a set of tactics, which cannot be defeated, rather than a specific adversary, who can be.

15. I wanted him to succeed, but was pretty sure he'd fail.
Economically, I hoped his stupid tax cuts and deregulation would actually succeed and we continue the growth we had under Clinton, but I knew the massive deficits he created would stifle us eventually. I would personally rather have the market at 20,000 and economy strong today. I would have not even minded that it would have made the election much tougher. Instead, we have a fricking mess that may take years to fix.

On the Iraq war, I strongly opposed it, but once he started it, I felt I had to hope for him to succeed. I even posted that at the time, and got a lot of grief for it. But once 3000 soldiers are already dead and god-only-knows how many innocent civilians, you have to hope that their deaths actually meant something and that Iraq would be better off ultimately. That remains to be seen, but seems unlikely to me.

as much as I hated him. I wanted the sheeple to wake up and see Bushco for the Fascist killing machine that it was.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine he could do to the country (and the world) what he did.

27. When the backwash nominated him in 2000, it was a foregone conclusion that he would fail.
Failure is the single consistent theme playing throughout his life. It has always fascinated me how often this proven imbecile is handed the keys to important, valuable positions only to fuck it up again, which is rewarded by another chance to fuck up something even bigger.

it wasn't exactly a surprise that failed at presidenting as well. obama has been a success his entire life, so i don't expect him to fail (like the failure).

30. I just wanted him stopped. I wanted the Dems in Congress to STOP failing
in upholding the Constitution and the principle of checks and balances.

I never had any illusion that Bush was anything but bad news, so it wasn't exactly wanting him to "fail", I just wanted to see some principled opposition to what he was doing.

I was looking forward to the day he started crying at the podium or ran headlong into one of the Whitehouse columns.

OK, I have to confess, I wanted him to fail at Iraq, at enforcing the Patriot Act, at climbing the steps of AF1, but that's just me.
