I don't know if this was by accident, design, or luck. But they did it.

A Steele/Rush death match.

"You're no conservative!" "Oh yeah?? Neither is your mother."

"Who is the Coolest Conservative?"

"Stop trying to be a media superstar and just do the job you were elected to do."

"He's an entertainer." (<---- That's the biggest lie. He isn't. He truly DOES try to set policy and he is backed and funded in that endeavor)

"He's good at what he does. Sometimes its ugly."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah."

"Fuck you."

"No. Fuck YOU"

"FUCK you."

"You ain't so tough."

"I can take you."

Go gettem, kids!

3. it was on purpose. which is why I laughed when people criticized Obama.
People were like...."He's a radio host. Why give him more ratings? He loves this stuff!"

Yeah, well Rush can send Obama a secret thank you card if he wants. The larger strategic battle is with recalcitrant Republican extremists in the leadership. By raising Rush's profile, he has forced the GOP to bow to Rush and thereby look like idiots to the general public.

He is going for a serious tailspin for these guys and then will offer them a way out that involves them cooperating with his big plans.

8. It's part & parcel of the whole "bipartisan" strategy.
Elevate Limboob to "spokesman for the GOP"
Reach out to Repubs - they cooperate, and Limboob shoots them down (virtually guarateeing a primary challenge by someone more loony-base-friendly), or they retreat into Limboob-land and look like reality-denying idjits, which gets them clobbered in the 2010 general.
Either way, Obama wins.
He gets Rethug cooperation, so his policies get passed - he wins.
Rethugs fight him and go "limboob" - Republicans get murdered in the 2010 midterms, and Obama has clear field to push his agenda - again, Obama wins.

4. And there's Rahm Emanuel
acting cool and calm and sane, explaining Obama wanting to get input from everyone to help our nation out of its troubles, but if Rush says he wants Obama (and hence the nation) to fail, hey, he'll admire his truthfulness---keep it up, Rushbo, and watch the people run from you and your GOP.

11. If you like it now
Wait till Newt, Palin and Mitt get involved, then things will really start heating up?

I can see it now. One of the above will have to kiss up to Rush to get his support, the other two will be trying to play to the other factions of the party. Now I see Rush taking Palin, he drooled all over himself last year when he talked about her, and She will go after the same wackos she had following her during the elections last year. That leaves Newt and Mitt to go after the "change" group, and the old time conservatives. I think Newt wants to change things, so I think Mitt will try and get the old time "real" conservatives on his side. Should be fun to watch as they divide and declare war against each other.

14. YESSS!!! Sarah PALIN!! Time for your closeup!
I need to see Hannity or some "Safe" Teevee person interview her so they can talk for 2 hours and splice a nice 30 minute interview together where she attacks Steele and the moderates and doesn't look completely stupid, crazy, bloodthirsty while doing it.

Oh hell. She can look crazy while doing it.

16. This is a good way to put it: "Inmates Fight Over Who Runs the Asylum"
Inmates Fight Over Who Runs the Asylum

RNC chair Michael Steele on Rush Limbaugh:

He's not (the de facto leader of the Republican party). I'm the de facto leader of the Republican party.... Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. His whole thing is entertainment. Yes, it's incendiary, yes, it's ugly.

Limbaugh on Steele:

Michael Steele, you are head of the RNC. You are not head of the Republican Party. Tens of millions of conservatives and Republicans have nothing to do with the RNC and right now they want nothing to do with it, and when you call them, asking them for money, they hang up on you....

Why are you running the Republican Party? Why do you claim you lead the Republican Party when you seem obsessed with seeing to it that President Obama succeeds? I frankly am stunned that the chairman of the Republican National Committee endorses such an agenda….

I would be embarrassed to say that I’m in charge of the Republican Party in a sad-sack state that it’s in. If I were chairman of the Republican Party, given the state that it’s in, I would quit. I might get out the hari-kari knife.

A conservative friend also informs me that Limbaugh's already famous "better policies are for losers" line was widely perceived as a dig at Newt Gingrich.
