CA Mayor Dean Grose Resigns; Swears He Didn't Know E-mail Associating Watermelon & Blacks Was Racist
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 03/02/2009 - 11:08am. Tony Peyser
Dean, you didn't know linking watermelon & Blacks was racist?
That's like playing the bass but insisting that you're not a bassist.
(For your information, I Googled "watermelon & blacks" & it's
A search on my computer that turned up over 3.3 million hits.)

Didn't know this connection? My God, you must think we're dumb.
Then why on earth why didn't you pick an apple, apricot or a plum?

Of all the fruit in all of creation, did you just have an unlucky knack
To pick the one fruit that was sure to insult anybody who is Black?

Why didn't you just say that you're sorry? That's a better way to go
Then insult our intelligence and try to maintain you just didn't know.

In the future, I imagine you'll find ways to pay your dues better ---
Maybe the local John Birch Society needs help with their newsletter.
