This weekend I heard some commentator mildly mocking Obama's statement that he wanted
to see us find a cure for cancer as part of his administration's work. I've seen no threads posted on this nor did I see any comment on it in the 24 hour news. It has been eating away at me for a couple of days. It made me angry at the time. I am a cancer survivor and have lost both parents and a brother to cancer. I seem to remember that Obama lost his mother to cancer. That anyone would mock this, of all things the man said, is really beyond comprehension. Cancer claims so many people and is one of the great health killers of our nation. Why we should not pursue its cure with the same vigor we would building a freaking bomb is beyond me.

Thanks for hearing me out.

2. Let them mock - chances are that when it is their turn to go they will
be wishing they had helped instead of being a bunch of idiots.

3. Because one has to be cynical, unempathetic, and a professional Naysayer
to get their mug on the TeeVee.

These are the same folks that said that Barack Obama had no chance in getting elected.

4. With respect...........
"Finding the cure for cancer" has been parodied so much and the person may be mocking Obama as grandiose. As grand as our President is, there will be pissants trying to knock him.

The bad humor is another way to deflect from the issue, including the fact that so much of our environment and products -- including in and on our bodies -- contribute to causing cancer. THAT's what they don't want to cover.

Here's to your folks memories and to your health :toast: :grouphug:

6. if a cure is found under a Dem President,
they are welcome to deny themselves of it ... I wouldn't wish that upon them, but if they don't want it because it has a Dem stamp on it, so be it ...

Of course, the ReRushicans keep using Al Gore's internet ...
