Coleman shutters campaign office, sheds spokesman
@ 1:00 pm by Michael O'Brien

Sen. Norm Coleman's (R-Minn.) campaign continued to downsize, losing its top spokesman over the weekend and shutting some campaign offices.

Senior spokesman Mark Drake has left the campaign, Minnesota Public Radio reported Monday, though there was no indication to where Drake would be headed.

Another Coleman spokesman, Luke Friedrich, left the campaign last week to take a job with Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-Minn.).

The campaign also closed its offices this weekend, which it said was because its lease was up.

Coleman's attorneys are expected to conclude their arguments in its election challenge to Democrat Al Franken's 225-vote lead in the race as certified by a state board today or tomorrow.

1. It is over
but as long as there are motions to file the RNC will pay to keep Al out of the Senate

10. The Greaseweasel hired some VERY expensive lawyers
and, together with their support staff, who also bill by the hour, that burns money the way a 747 goes through jet fuel.

Good riddance, Norm.

13. actually, a modern jet liner, such as the 747,
uses fuel very efficiently. The Brayton cycle engine, the kind used in jets, can be honed to upwards of 98% efficiency. While jets do use a large quantity of fuel, adjusting for weight and passengers means that jets are far more efficient than cars.

17. ...jets are far more efficient than cars
and undoubtedly more efficient than a team of Republican lawyers fighting the certitude of a lost cause.

11. So the question is
how much of a "case" will the Franken side put forth? Will they offer much or simply declare that the Coleman side failed to prove its case?

I suspect they'll probably have to put up some specific rebuttal, but I doubt their presentation needs to be very long or complicated.

14. The sad thing for MN, and the rest of us, is that Coleman has known
for months, that short of a special election, his goose was well cooked. I hope the taxpayers of MN show Norm the proper appreciation on the way out the door. What a hypocritical jerk.

Anyone recall when Norm was ahead, he called on Al to concede, so as not to drag the people of MN through a long drawn out recount? While he didn't bother to clue the people in that the recount was automatic? What a difference a few ballots make.

Bye Norm! :hi:
