Limbaugh misquotes Constitution while arguing Obama policies are ‘bastardization’ of Constitution.

During his speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday, Rush Limbaugh got some of his loudest applause when he declared that President Obama’s policies represent a “bastardization of the Constitution.” He attempted to prove his devotion to the document by quoting from it:

We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. (Applause) We believe that the preamble to the Constitution contains an inarguable truth that we are all endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights, among them life. (Applause) Liberty, Freedom. (Applause) And the pursuit of happiness. Those of you watching at home may wonder why this is being applauded. We conservatives think all three are under assault. (Applause)

However, it’s is the Declaration of Independence — and not the Constitution — that affirms the equality of all men and man’s inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; the Preamble to the Constitution focuses on establishing “a more perfect Union.” Ironically, after revealing his ignorance of America’s founding documents, Limbaugh told his conservative competition that “the Constitution doesn’t need to be redefined. Conservative intellectuals, the Declaration of Independence does not need to be redefined and neither does conservatism.”

2. Preamble
FYI - Rushbo

The preamble states that government is instituted to "promote the general Welfare". This seems to cement the case that government should act when the general welfare is threatened.
