CA tax refunds continue to be delayed
The State Controller announced on Thursday, February 19, 2009, that once the budget plan provides the needed cash in the treasury, his office will work around the clock to get delayed payments out the door. Check this website for updated information on the status of the delayed tax refunds.

My tax preparer said to figure on or about May 1. Of course, property taxes are due April 10. Great.

1. I have an appointment to get mine done on Friday
I plan to hand the state its own IOU as an estimated tax payment for 2009.

On Monday I will file a new W-4 form at work, increasing my state withholding exemptions by one or two depending on how the numbers work out.

:-)

2. Why not
Sell the IOU to debt collector and have them hound the State everyday?
Might lose a little money, but think of the effect if everyone w/IOU's would do it! Just a thought.:evilfrown:

3. That would provide some entertainment, but I'd rather accept a small increase in my take-home pay
Having debt collectors hounding the state would make a good comedy skit, but it wouldn't address the root cause (which is the state government's spending problem).
