"There was a Michael Steele before there was a Barack Obama"
Edited on Sun Mar-01-09 11:21 PM by Avalux
"I was the first black Lieutenant Governor elected in the country and that was long before Obama was elected".

(In response to being challenged that the Pukes picked him as a reaction to Obama's success).

He has said the word "self-empowered" about 10 times already in a desperate attempt to explain why Republicans love black people.

(On CNN).

1. Mike Tyson was his brother in law a decade ago
I really wish they were still "family". I would have loved to have seen that family gathering during a convention.

2. And yet, in less time . . .
Obama has become the President of the United States. Michael Steele, when he's not posing as a Democrat, is the Uncle Tom of massa's plantation.

17. That's Offensive
we may disagree with Michael Steele's politics, but calling him an Uncle Tom is racist.

or maybe that's just my opinion.

23. I'm judging Mr. Steele on the totality of his career
And the verdict for a cynical, opportunistic, manipulative token handed elevated status as a feeble attempt to gloss over the out-and-out racism of the political party of his choice? "Uncle Tom" is the nice thing I have to call him.

3. Was he speaking to the Sinatra Republicans or the hip-hop Republicans?
Steele's been kind of tough to keep up with these days.

namely that no one gives a flying fuck about him. ;)

The American people voted for President Obama because they believed in his abilities.

12. Steele is delusional,
somehow he just doesn't get it that he's the token the bigoted right wing has selected to carry their water and kiss their ass. And on top of that many in the GOP are none too happy he got the job. This guy is about as close to Obama's level as Joe the Plumber is... and he's just not smart enough to realize it.

15. He was never elected on his own to office
HE wasn't elected Lt Governor, he was elected as running mate to Ehrlich. And the only reason Ehrlich won is because Katheryn Kennedy Towsend was a bad campaigner. He lost in his bid for Senate in 2006 against Cardin. He wouldn't have a chance against Mikulski. I really don't think he has much to run on regarding his political record. The only thing he has to go on is the fact that he is a black republican.

Bottom of the ticket, but it's still accurate to say he was elected.

28. Wonder what Doug Wilder has to say about that.
Steele might think that this is technically true, because he's three years older than President Obama. However, President Obama is a "Junior," so there was in fact a Barack Obama before this Michael Steele at least.

29. What a jackass....actually there were several before he was hatched.
Oscar Dunn was the first elected black Rep. Lt. Gov. of La.
Pinckney Benton Stewart Pinchback was Rep. Lt. Gov. of La. and became Gov.
Douglas Wilder was Dem. Lt. Gov. of Va.before he bacame Gov.

I think Steele needs a black history lesson, he does a disservice to his race.
